Windows 10: Win 10 OEM DVD stuck @63% w/ error 0x8007001

Hey yall!


So I built a PC for my step daughter's 14th birthday. I am using an external CD drive that hooks up via USB. I've installed many many many windows copies from it with no issue and this is the first time I've had an issue. I've tried two different types of hard drives as well as a separate set of cable to see if that could be the issue. Both of them gets stuck at 63% on the dot in the getting files ready stage and then they spit the code out 0x80070001 which says bad media according to the Microsoft site. My question is does that mean the OEM DVD i bought bad? I noticed it had small surface specs and surface scratches right up a box which was kind of strange but I didn't think much of it until obviously when I couldn't install anything.


My next question is I know you can mount a Windows 10 ISO on a USB stick but seeing as how I don't have windows currently installed on a fresh hard drive....

Is there a way to mount that ISO to install Windows from it and use the DVD OEM key that came with the DVD OEM I bought but read the installation via the USB Windows 10 ISO and I not have to have anything special outside of literally a blank hard drive and a USB stick with Windows on it?

My Acer Aspire laptop came with Win 7 Home Premium. I installed SP1 and other updates later on.

Will I be able to install OEM Win 10 from DVD successfully with all features mentioned in Win 10 Specs. and System Requirements? This laptop meets all System Requirements for Win 10 OS.

Does OEM version has features like Windows Media Player, Windows DVD maker, Windows Photo Gallery etc. . . ? If not, what alternative/related features it comes with?

DVD recording wont finalize

Use a DVD+R (not RW). Should be able to use the built in burn capability of Win 10. Select the pics, right click and Send to and choose the DVD R/W drive as the target.

Thank you for your suggestions. If I understand correctly, you are suggesting that I don't use the Windows 10 DVD I bought and instead download a new ISO from Microsoft and use MCT to create a bootable usb? If this is the case:
a) Do you suspect the issue I am facing might be due to the Windows 10 OEM DVD?
b) If I go ahead with this, will the product key for the Windows 10 OEM I bought work with the one I will download and burn to a usb and use to format the PC?

I disabled the floppy drive from BIOS, I don't know if I can or there is something else to disable. I don't see anything that refers to Bluetooth in BIOS or Device Manager. In general, I don't know how to troubleshoot this error. I tried looking in Event Viewer for the events reported by the antivirus and anti-spyware programs just in case it said anything more as to what is this device that causes issues but I couldn't find anything.
