Windows 10: WIN 10 PC REVERTED TO OLD DESKTOP

When logging in to my Win 10 PC today, the desktop took on a totally different appearance. Most of my icons and taskbar settings were gone or changed. I tried a system restore on three times to points back to a month ago with same results. I got an error message that files for c/users/jawon/desktop/onedrive could not be found from restore point unspecified error 0x8007018b. None of the icons on my desktop will allow me to access those apps, such as Google Chrome or ITunes, and when I try to sign in will not allow me enough characters to enter my password. Will I need to start from scratch and reconfigure all of my settings, or is there a set of steps I can take to restore my PC to its state prior to this mishap. Note that when I shut down last evening, I accidentally hit "Restart" and then attempted to shutdown from the lock screen. It said that If I did that I could lose all of my unsaved work etc. This could be the cause of my issues. Would sure appreciate any help on this. I am still able to access my One Drive files on another PC.

windows 10 deleted my desktop files

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

• Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
• Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
• Click on Users, select your User name
• Go to desktop folder

Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.

 

Compuuter reverts to desktop while working.

Since the latest windows 10 update my computer repeatedly reverts to desktop view while working. Can anyone suggest a simple fix that a 75 year old could follow? Thanks, Phil.

 

Reverted back to Win 7 after system restore

Before we proceed, I would like you to provide the information stated below:

• How did you perform the said "restore"?
• Do you still have your personal files and folders in the desktop?

I would like to inform that you if you perform System Restore, your computer will return to an earlier working point within the Windows 10 OS. It will not revert or return to the old Windows 7.

Having stated so, if your Win 10 OS was activated prior to the revert and you wish to re-install Win 10, I suggest that you re-install the OS using the Media Creation Tool provided in the link below

Download Windows 10

(Refer to the section "Installing Windows 10 using the media creation tool
" in the above article for creating the tool).
