Windows 10: Win 10 PC turned off for multiple years - updates?

What's the right approach to a Win 10 PC that will be unplugged and stored for multiple years (probably 2 to 3)?


Once turned on again will it leap frog over all the interim updates that were released - and just download update the most recent? Will it go thru each sequentially taking a very long time? Or is there going to be some other problem?


It's a pretty high end machine in terms of hardware - so I doubt there will be any RAM/processor issues involved.

updates to pc failed multiple times


i think its because i chose to have notifications off...? but anyways, i see recent updates list show multiple updates for various programs that failed to update. an hour ago, i tried running "windows10upgrade.exe" and it too failed. i see there are updates that look like they are downloading, but are just stuck there. and whenever i log off pc and shut down for the night, sometimes i get a brief notice, "installing updates" -dont turn off your pc..but too late after i click to shutdown. very odd. and the updated list shows only updates made in march of this year only. any hints?*Shock

 

IS Win 10 Read? or Reinstall 7 and Install 10 in 9 months.

If what i read was correct its the ultimate irony as they P2P your pc so u can "windows update" other PC (I hear u can turn that off) But the good p2p is at threat. I hope waiting will work in that there will be an outcry that MS is stepping over the line by a mile and they revert back to the win 7 days of largely hands off. No matter what ive read u can turn 3/4, 2/3 off but not all of the intrusiveness.

 

Display does not turn off when pc is idle

Just did all the suggestions. Did not work. Display does not turn off.

This issue was from the beginning when I downloaded Win 10. I had Win 8.1 and the display always turned off as I set it.

My pc is HP Pavilion Touchsmart 23 all-in-one. According to "checking for updated drivers on display and monitors", I always get the response that the drivers currently installed are the correct ones.
