  1. Win 10 Pro, Office 19 re-install

    Hello,

Recently, my employer inadvertently pushed a Group Policy to my personal desktop Dell Optiplex 3020 w/Win 10 Pro that, among other possible restrictions of which I am still unaware, disabled access to all USB storage devices. After spending hours with company IT tech support, I've been told that the only way to rectify the problem is to re-install a "clean" OS. To say the least, I'm not happy with this outcome - but that's another story. My question is this: Does Microsoft have a licensing provision whereby I could get a replacement clean copy of the OS without paying for another license? The current OEM OS was installed on the refurbished machine when I bought it through Amazon. I also have a legitimate copy of Office 19 that I purchased which will also have to be replaced among other non-Microsoft commercial software.

Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

    Charlie

  2. Reloading - retrieving my installed WIN 10 PRO

Thanks for the quick and detail response. Just to make sure I understand your procedure, here are the steps I will do:

    1. Download Win10586PESE-x64 v16.07.07 (new) ISO and burn to a DVD.

    2. Place DVD in computer and power ON boot from DVD
    3. Run Macrium Reflect. Under the restore menu will be a utility to fix Windows startup problems. Try that utility to see if that restores booting to Windows 10
    4. When Windows startup utility finishes, remove DVD and power OFF computer
    5. Power ON and see if WIN 10 boots.
    6. If WIN 10 boots, check for normal operation, etc.
    7. If WIN 10 does not boot; re-install full WIN 7 disk image.
    8. Download and save Windows 10 ISO file tofolder on C:\ drive
    9. Down load and save:WinISO file on C:\ drive.
    10. Run and install WinISO according to http://www.winiso.com/support/tutorials/mount-iso-in-windows7.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">
[*]Run WinISO, open the Windows 10 ISO file stored on C:\. I assume there will be some type of BROWSE menu so you can select the Windows 10 ISO file?
[*] Click "Mount" and a file menu of the files in the Windows 10 ISO file will appear.
[*]Double click to Run setup.exe.from the WINDOWS 10 ISO file menu
[*]This should upgrade your Windows 7 to Windows 10 - This same procedure as the “Free” upgrade from WIN 7 PRO to WIN 10 PRO. When finished WIN 10 PRO will be installed and ALL WIN 7 PRO program files, drivers, printers and data files from WIN 7 PRO will be available for use. To be explicit this is an install of WIN 10 PRO and a “TRANSFER/ UPGRADE of WIN 7 PRO program files, drivers, printers and data files. This is NOT a CLEAN INSTALL of WIN 10 PRO

JUST WANT TO MAKE MAKE SURE I UNDERSTAND THE EXPECTED RESULTS

    1. The newly created WIN 10 PRO install should activate based upon your previously activated upgrade. I assume the setup program will access some Microsoft data base and find my previous activation?

Please excuse the long list, but I find it better to ask questions now, rather than try to unwind some misunderstanding later.

I do appreciate your time and support!

    Thanks

How to activate existing Win 10 Pro and MS Office on a new PC

Thank you for your response and feedback.

After many frustrating attempts eventually what half-worked was:

Login to the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center,

    1. Download and install the Win 10 Pro ISO image and activation key.

This worked and Win 10 Pro was activated

    2. Download and install the MS Office 2016 ISO image and activation key

This installed MS Office but the activation key was not recognised.

I am still unable to register my paid-for MS Office 2016

    Any other suggestions?

    Keep well

  4. Win 10 Pro, Office 19 re-install

Installing MS Office Pro Plus 2010 onto Win-10

Years ago when I was associated w/ a university I legally received a copy of MS Office Pro Plus 2010. I installed it on my Win-7 machine and have been using it for several years.

I recently bought a Dell laptop (XPS 13 9365/ 8th gen Intel i7) with Win-10 installed. I wanted to put the MS Office Pro Plus 2010 S/W onto the laptop but discovered the ser. # on the CD isn't recognized. I'm thinking that M/S put a time limit(?) on the CD
so it can't be re-installed after a certain amt. of time. Currently retired and no longer have an association w/ the university. Any ideas as to how I go about installing the S/W? I can't really afford to buy new S/W. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanx.
