Win 10 Pro x86 v1909 How to set Windows Defender to run every night?


My win defender does not seem to be running on its own.


Also, I can not tell if virus updates are being implemented. Do you need to have download other MS products checked?


Can some send strait forward instructions, such that my system automatically:


1. check for virus definition updates at least once a night?

2. run a quick scan at least once a night?

3. run a full scan ~ once a month or so.


This was a clean install of 1906 ~ week ago or more, non Microsoft antivirus, just the windows update stuff.

Windows Defender - Real Time Protection Won't Turn On

Since you have Windows 10 Pro, you can follow these steps as alternative to Step 8 from the wiki:

• Press Win key + R. This will open Run dialog.
• Type "gpedit.msc" and hit Enter.
• Navigate to Computer Configuration -> Administrative Template -> Windows Components -> Windows Defender.
• There you will find a setting called 'Turn off Windows Defender'. Change that policy to 'Disabled'.
• Restart the system and check Windows Defender again.

SEtting up automatic updates for windows defender on windows 8

I have found this on the internet en have set up a task for automatic definitions update for Windows Defender but a window pops up when this starts to run.
Is there a way to set this without any window popping up so that it just runs in the background?

Now I'm using
"C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MpCmdRun.exe" -SignatureUpdate -MMPC

I'm currrently using it as described here:
