Windows 10: Win 10 random freezing issue.

Hello. I have had my computer about 5 years now and I upgraded it to Win 10 when it was first announced. It worked nicely few years untill I started getting random freezes. Some happen right after opening computer and sometimes it runs weeks without problems. At first I thought I can live with it but recently I have started worried how these freezes and constant force-booting is affecting my hardware durability.


I have tried many ways to troubleshoot it but I haven't succeed yet. I will list down below all what have I done, but propably I'm forgetting some.

1. Fix (free memory)

-Memories are SDD (C) 64gb free /222gb

-(F) 205 gb free / 1 Tb

2. Fix (Disconnect usbs)

-Worked before so no.

3. Fix (faulty hardware)

- In fact my graphics card has bended a bit and it is being suspended.

4. Fix (faulty programs)

- Problem is so old that I can't remember.

5. Fix (SFC scan)

- Didn't find anything.


Advanced tips

1. (check device drivers)

- Check'd all (prolly over 50) and found some but no help.

2. (Flash SSD)

- Kept crashing

3. Clean reinstall of Win 10 (not done)

1. Cleaned temp files

Random freezes or shut downs

Completely random freezing/shutdowns on a system with no recent hardware changes, and hard drive, memory, and PSU fine, usually means a software issue (file corruption or malicious software). I suggest following DavidV's recommendations.

Hrrmmmm... but wouldnt formatting and reinstalling windows fix the issue since the virus/trojan/spyware isnt on the system any longer?

 

Random Crash/Freeze on Build 10130


Hello everyone.

I have been running the Windows 10 preview for the last few months and other than a driver issue here or there, did not experience any real problems. However, with the last update to build 10130, I have been experiencing a random crash/freeze that manifests itself in one of two ways:

• If I step away from the computer and come back before the monitor is set to go to sleep, I will come back to a frozen cursor, unable to do anything.
• If I step away from the computer and come back after the monitor has gone to sleep, I will come back to a black screen, unable to do anything.

In both cases, I have to hold the power button in to shut down the computer for a restart.

Any direction or help would be greatly appreciated.
