Windows 10: Win 10 start menu mouse hover don't expend the tab's

I am new to win 10, and have a question about the start menu. The other day I was over at friends house and his start menu did something my did not.


When you in start menu, and lets say you search for "control pane" when I would mouse over the found icon, it would display an additional tab to the right of it automatically just by hovering over it, which I then can click and open. I think there might of been even more additional information when the tab would expect cant recall. I wanted to try it on my end, but cant seem to find the settings to enable/disable this. We have the same Win 10 Pro editions. Im currently running an 1803 build, not sure what my friends build was.


Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Mouse pointer hides under Start Menu.

• Does the mouse respond when you click on the Start icon? Yes.
• Does the issue persist when you hover your mouse over Start menu tiles?
  You cannot see the mouse over the Start Menu tiles. It show up behind the tiles like a shadow.
• Do you face similar issue when you hover your mouse on other icons?No.

I will try your suggestions and report back.

 

Color Changes to mouse hover

Tried the icon cache reset, it did reset, but so far I didn't detect any change.

I looked at your step recording. What's interesting is that your taskbar does show a loudspeaker icon, apparently even when you're not hovering over it. Then when you click on it you get the vertical slider picture. I get that but by clicking on an empty box. For me, the same is true for the other missing icon - "new notifications"

In your other picture of the mouse over the power icon, I get that just the same, but when I move the mouse down to the first option - Sleep - it is replaced by a black rectangle.

I'll live with these for the time being.

I will try MCBUILDER.exe and report the results later.

.....then I'd have to consider the Spitfires.......

Windows 10 start menu - hover over item in start menu to activate sub-menu MISSING

Hi Bob,





We understand that you would like to enable the sub-menu option when hovering over items in your
Start menu. Follow the steps below to enable this feature in your
Windows 10 computer:



1. Right-click on an empty space on your taskbar.

2. Once the Taskbar Properties dialog box is open, go to the
Start Menu tab.

3. Under Privacy, make sure that Store and display recently opened programs in the Start menu and
Store and display recently opened items in the Start menu and the taskbar are both checked.

4. Click on Apply and OK.

5. Follow steps 1 and 2 again and click on
Customize.

6. Look for the Open submenus when I pause on them with the mouse pointer and put a check mark on it.

7. Click on Apply and OK.



After performing the steps above, you should have the sub-menus option when you hover over items on your
Start menu.
