Win 10 - Unable to boot how can I tell if the SSD is RIP........?

Hello, hope someone can assist please?

I'm looking to help my friend fix their Win 10. All of a sudden, it fails to boot.

I've created a Windows 10 ISO disk. After booting with it, the only options available after selecting "Repair System" is entering CMD or "Start-up Repair". When I go into later it goes through diagnosis and then reports "Start-up Repair couldn't repair your PC" - and prompts to shut down.

I note the PC has an SSD - a Z400 Sandisk 128GB presumably for the Win install and a 1TB Seagate ST10003M003 HDD for storage.

I suspect given the PC is over 5 years old that the Sandisk has given up the ghost - even a little research suggests that these early SSD's weren't that reliable so I'm surprised it's lasted this long.

Anyway, when I go into DISKPART and LIST VOLUMES all I get is the HDD and DVD-ROM with the repair disk in.... see below....

Is there any way to be certain that the SSD has failed or should I just assume that, given the above?

    Many thanks you wonderful people!!

    Simon

    Win 10 boots...

Interesting that it works on that oldie but goody laptop.

I don't notice any speed lags with Win-10 TP, but I'm using it on an i5-4670K system with an SSD for the boot drive, so it's snappy.

    RIP CDs

    Hi,

We suggest that you perform these steps and check if the issue persists:

    • Press "Windows" + "E" button on the keyboard.
    • Go to "View > Navigation pane" and select "Show libraries".
    • Now in the navigation pane, right-click on the "Music" library under "Libraries" and select "Delete".
    • Now right-click on the "Libraries" and select "Restore default libraries".
    • Now try to rip.

We also suggest that you refer to this link. Burn and rip CDs.

    Regards.

Win 10 - Unable to boot how can I tell if the SSD is RIP........?

    Win 10 boots...

Yes, it's called the Windows Technical Preview and you can get it here (ISO Download)

You'll have to sign up for a MS account using your email and a password.

I'm using it with a 480GB SSD as the OS drive and it ~does~ boot faster, much faster.
I also have a new Win-7 build with a pair of 120GB SSDs in RAID that takes longer to boot.
