    Win 10 Update KB4493440 fails

How do I correct "An update is being prepared for your device, but it's not quite ready yet. We'll keep trying or you can try again now." Update history shows that KB4493440 did install successfully, but Win Update tried to install it again and failed 18 times, showing error 0x80240034. The update system is now hung up at this point. Win ver. 1709 Home, 32 bit DoublePower 2 in 1 laptop, Intel CPU 1.33 GHz, 2 GB RAM.

    Thanks for your assistance.

I should add that I have run the Update Troubleshooter, DISM, SFC, and ResetWUEng script.

    :)

KB4493440 will not install, error 0x80240034

I have a laptop where Windows Update had been stuck trying to install KB4493440 (2019-04 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709) since last year. It would repeatedly try then fail. I finally tried to sort this out, and while I have made progress,
this update still shows up in the list and still fails.

It fails with error 0x80240034, and this is a summary of what I have tried so far:

    1) Installing the update from Microsoft Update Catalog was successful but did not remove it from the list in Windows Update. The Update History shows a successful install on the appropriate day, with later failed attempts
    to install it.

    2) Updating Windows manually from Download Windows 10 got the computer up to a current version, but did not resolve the issue with this update.

    3) Following the steps at Windows Update - Additional resources - Windows Deployment to run the 2 scripts for resetting Windows Update did not help. After rebooting, Windows Update detected the same update, which resulted in the same
    error.

    4) Ran DISM and System File Checker, then rebooted. Still the same.

    What else can I try?

    Many thanks,

    Shawn
