Hello All, This is my first post as I am relatively new to Win 10 (don't ask). This is me: EditionWindows 10 Pro Version20H2 Installed on‎13/‎12/‎2020 OS build19042.1052 Lats night my machine updated with KB 5004945 and promptly terminated my internet access. I had to do a system restore to recover ! I would prefer not to be a part of the Microsoft bug testing team, so I would seek any advice on how to minimise this sort of catastrophic occurrence. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks.

    :)

Hi, sorry,no idea why you might have had that problem- not seen one similar.. good you could recover. Note you can uninstall updates too.

Having done so, you will need to hide (block it) - tutorial available- if it always gives you a problem.

That said, its content will be included in any subsequent update.

You have Pro, so why not use its features?

Using the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) you can:
    - set updates to 'Notify' - so you get - yes- a notification of any update- clicking on that opens Settings so you can see which it is.. then you can read the News article and general press about it.. then decide whether to accept it or not.

    - defer feature updates (upgrades) for up to 365 days

Described in tutorials. (Google search e.g.
    defer feature updates tutorial site:tenforums.com

This gives you peace and quiet.

Many times disabling WUpdate and taking control has been described here- and 2 tutorials are available.
