Windows 10: Win 10 ver 2004 Administrator dialog box when deleting files/folders

My home PC recently updated to version 2004. Now whenever I try to delete a file or folder through Windows Explorer I am told I need to provide administrator privileges to complete the task. I click "Continue" and the file/folder delete without further delay. The problem is I *am* the administrator on the computer. In fact, I'm the only account on the computer.


I've gone through netplwiz and verified that I am in the administrators group.


I have verified that "<machinename>\administrators" has full access to the file/folders I am attempting to delete.


This problem has only started since I upgraded to build 2004. Please help. This is super annoying.

The Windows.old folder will not delete


So I followed these steps:

• I opened my search box.
  
  
• In the search box, type Admin, I right clicked Disk Cleanup and selected run as Administrator.
• In the Disk Cleanup dialog, I clicked Clean up system files.
  
  
• I select the Previous Windows installation(s) check box, and then clicked OK.
  
  
• I then clicked Delete files.
  
  
  the folder is still there.... any ideas what to do now???

have you shutdown and rebooted windows since you did the above
