    I've got a fairly recent build (specs are below), and the OS performance has been absolutely sluggish and glitchy ever since upgrading from Windows 8 to 10. >:-( Video performance in particular. I get this intermittent and long lasting issue where system and application menus (but strangely no problems in a browser) won't render properly and/or render REALLY slowly. They're either just the frame (desktop showing through), lacking the text options, or the drop-downs wont show the text. Selecting with the drag/box tool is an absolute nightmare too, either not displaying (or highlighting selections that are in fact selected, and/or won't go away after dragged), or reacting with an enormous delay. We're talking 500 ms to a second or more here! The system is effectively unusable when it's doing this.

    Weird part is that it'll respond that way for an hour or two on end, then all the sudden start behaving normally. The system itself is a beast (I do CAD design and music production), PLENTY of horsepower, workstation video card, liquid cooled. I've tried updating all the drivers, rolling back video drivers in particular. I tried upping the paging file as well. No bueno. Is there a solution here that I'm missing? Can I roll it back to Windows 8?

    Still having trouble. I can't see where a specific process is causing it. Like I said, it's an issue for a while then it just goes away miraculously after being on for an hour or so. REALLY bizarre behavior.

    Sounds like a driver issue. Don't just use the generic drivers that load with Windows 10. Or you may need to do a clean install. Upgrading has always been a hit or miss. Lastly, have you looked in the event viewer and what items are having issues.

    Indeed it is. When I uninstall it and it goes back to the default 8/1/2016 Nvida driver, it runs like the rocketship that it is. I did this once or twice before, but I think Windows 10 being the know-it-it-all that it thinks it is automatically updating the driver to the never version which ain't playing nice with my video card. *Rolleyes

    But you can choose to install the drivers you want. You just have to turn off the auto installing of drivers. I have 50 some PCs that I manage and have installed the correct drivers and everything works great.

    Alright, turns out that's not quite the issue. *sarc Booted up again today, same problem. Checked the driver. Still the old one.

    Uninstalled the driver, screen res goes all huge, re-scanned the devices, Win 10 auto-installs the SAME driver, screen goes back to 4K. No visual issues (of course all my desktop and theme preferences are reset which is annoying).

    What. Is. Going. On. Here. *Shock
