Win 11 24H2 Laptop doesn't recognize any external interface via usb-c ethernet / hdmi...

Win 11 24H2 on my dell latitude 7390 doesn't recognize any external interface. The docking station used for HDMI and ethernet are only useable for powering now. I change to another type of docking station, with the same result. The HDMI Interface within the dell is also not recognizing a connected display. Everything works over a year without any issues, which occurs on Dec 2nd first until today. I also installed the newest dell drivers, no change. It seems, all external interface are shut downed.

    :)

  2. USB-C Port works with one laptop but not another

So I have a usb-c hub that has ports for two HDMI's, a bunch of usb's, and an ethernet cable. I also have two laptops - one for work and one for personal use. The work laptop is a Microsoft Surface running windows 11, and the personal laptop is a Razer running windows 11. Both laptops have worked in the past with the hub, with all USB's, ethernet, and an external monitor working properly. I recently connected the HDMI cable to a projector instead of the external monitor while the hub was connected to my personal laptop, which worked just fine. Since then, the monitor will not recognize a video input from the hub when my personal laptop is connected. Strangely, the setup works just fine with my personal laptop still, and the external monitor will recognize input from my personal laptop if the HDMI is connected directly into the laptop instead of the hub. Every other thing connected to the hub still works with my personal laptop and work laptop.

I've tried restarting both the laptop and disconnecting & reconnecting the hub from power, the USB-C from both ends, and the HDMI from both ends. I've also tried to get the laptop to detect another display in the windows display settings, and it says there is no other display. I've also tried updating any drivers associated with the hub or my graphics. Any idea what could be wrong?

  3. USB Type C - HDMI problem in Windows 11

Hello, I found a problem with my USB hub.

So I used a USB type C hub with an HDMI out extension for the second external monitor from my laptop running Windows 11 OS. The first external monitor was connected via the default HDMI port from the laptop.

It's been running for about 1 month with no problems, I can extend my display on two external screens.

A few days ago suddenly the external monitor connection that used a USB type C Hub was lost. I think the problem is in the USB hub, I tried using it on another laptop with Windows 10 OS and it can run normally. I tried to check the HDMI cable I'm using and there's no problem.

I thought the problem was in the USB Hub drivers because Windows 11 will regularly install updates. But I'm also confused about how to fix this, whereas my work really requires displays on 2 external screens.

Has anyone had the same problem and found a solution?

    Thanks

Surface Laptop 4 doesn't connect to external displays through USB-C

Hi, I bought a refurbished Surface Laptop 4 with windows 11 2 1/2 weeks ago and I haven't been able to use the USB-C port for any external displays/monitors. I first discovered the problem when trying to connect my Huion Kamvas 16 display tablet, which connects through a USB-C-> USB-C cable that’s compatible with DisplayPort alternate mode. When the tablet is plugged in, my computer registers it as a display but starts freezing intermittently and the screen blinks on and off. I’ve also tried plugging my laptop into different external monitors with an HDMI->USB-C adaptor. With the HDMI-> USB-C, it registers as a USB-C Video Adaptor in my device manager and under “other devices”, but not as a monitor. I can still charge my phone and interface with it through the USB-C port. I don’t have any other devices I can check with it.

Here's the troubleshooting I've done so far:

    • Turned my laptop off and on again
    • Connected both the tablet and other monitors to other devices- both worked perfectly fine as expected, so the issue isn't with the cords or external devices
    • Kept my display tablet powered through its external charging device. My laptop still freezes intermittently and blinks on and off
    • Uninstalling and re-installing the USB drivers through device manager
    • Uninstalling and re-installing the drivers and firmware for my tablet- I double checked the drivers with the serial number to make sure it was the correct ones.
    • plugging in the tablet without drivers, which should normally just register it as an external monitor. My laptop still freezes intermittently and blinks on and off.
    • Checked the system requirements and specs for the tablet and my laptop's USB-C port- I didn't find anything that would indicate it's incompatible with the tablet or the HDMI->USB-C adaptor
    • All options that could be done on the external monitors and usb-c microsoft troubleshooting pages
    • Note: I restarted my laptop after each uninstallation and re-installation process.
Why am I asking for help here instead of with my tablet's manufacturer? Because I'm convinced it's an issue with my USB-C port and not an issue with my tablet. The tablet works fine with other devices (unfortunately I don’t anyone else with a SL4), and my computer just doesn’t connect to any other displays, period. It’s only my USB-C port that’s causing issues.

Short of factory resetting my computer, I can’t think of anything else to try. Is the Surface Laptop 4 just unable to connect to external displays through the USB-C port? I rely on my drawing tablet for supplemental income so if it’s not compatible, I need to know so I can get a new laptop.

Edit: Clarified one of the bullet points further
