  1. Win 11 home not seeing new internal storage drives.

GreetingsI have win 11 home, OS installed to Drive C.After installing the OS, I installed two additional internal SATA drives. One a WD Blue 2tb HDD and PNY 2tb SSD. The BIOS sees both new drives. And I have installed the motherboards recommended and most current SATA drivers.Windows does not see the new drives in the Disc & Volume or Storage poolThe drives were confirmed good via an external USB HDD dock attached to a different win10 PC.

    :)

  2. Internal Storage Devices swap drive letters

The machine has a M.2 PCLe NVMe SSD (the system drive), an internal HDD storage drive, and an internal optical drive
The SATA controller was set as RAID at the factory. I never enabled RAID on the system by any means to create RAID volumes.

The BIOS lets me change the SATA Controller to RAID or to AHCI.
I recently made the change from RAID to AHCI in the BIOS using safemode boot procedure steps.

Something I didn’t expect happening during this change was the internal optical Drive and the internal HDD swapping drive letters.
Maybe I’m being a little overly apprehensive. If the data can't be restored one day for whatever reason, would keeping the drive letters the way they are assigned now and making all new backups of personal data, and creating new DVD rescue disks, and new backup DVD’s be the more prudent step to ensure the data integrity for the lack of a better term ?

It's easy to reassign the drive letters following the excellent tutorial
“Change and Assign Drive Letter in Windows 10 by @Brink which offers a way for correcting this on-board SATA port redirection that maybe occurred or whatever, except.....
every DVD burned, every personal file ever backed up on the external drive using SyncBackFree, the rescue DVD, all originally created with the opposite drive letters, draws concern of potential file unrestorability, and DVD data unreliability.

I only mention my skepticism changing the drive letter of a storage device back to what it originally was and potentially not being able to restore back ups only because some have attested that trying to restore personal files to the internal HDD lead to headaches.

Any comments and suggestions are welcomed and appreciated.

Not to get off the subject but,
The Storage controller driver that installed is a Standard Microsoft NVMe driver. Any suggestions on this generic driver are also very much appreciated.

  3. Windows Installation flash drive can't see internal storage

I created a windows 10 flash drive out of a 22H2 iso acquired on Jan 5th. A brand new Dell Latitude 5530 laptop that I am setting up is experiencing issues, including but not limited to:

    • Unable to uninstall OEM office. Uninstall in appwiz does nothing, uninstall in settings app does nothing as well.
    • Can't run any executable files. (claims I need to be an administrator, despite being the only local account on the PC)
Due to this, I tried to "Reset Windows" in settings. this was spinning for about an hour without progress so I cancelled it.
I went into the BIOS, disabled secure boot, and plugged in my windows installation flash drive with the intention of wiping the internal 512 GB nVME SSD in the PC, however the internal storage does not appear from the bootable media. I tried again with a flash drive made from the Windows 10 media creation tool, but that didn't even show up as a bootable option.
I'm aware this is probably more of a Dell question, but what would prevent the boot media from seeing the internal storage holding the (mostly) functional OS that I can still boot to?

Win 11 home not seeing new internal storage drives.

File History no longer sees internal hard drive

    Hi Derek,

Thank you for being part of Microsoft Community.

If you are unable to see that drive, I would suggest you to check if it listed in Disk Management utility. Refer to these steps:

    a) Press
Windows key +X, select Disk management.

    b) In the new Window, check if the E drive is listed.

    c) If it is not listed, please check if you are able to see any other partition with a different letter assigned to it or if there is any other partition
    with unallocated space.

Please get back to us with this information so that we can assist you further.
