Windows 10: WIN 11 keeps setting my keyboard layout to the american one.

Hello,Newbie on W11 here.I have installed visual studio community to code within the Unreal Engine framework.I am a french user but i need my windows & installed programs in english so i get the err/warn/info messages in english, which makes it much easier to google questions.But of course i need my keyboard layout in french so i can type.So i have setup W11 just like that preferred language = EN, keyboard layout = FR and it works well, everything is in english, and i type with a french layout. All good so far.The problem is that whenever i compile & launch my unreal project through

Keyboard layout keep changing to American QWERTY

My keyboard has a German layout. That's how it should be. Windows however keeps changing, since I reset my PC, the layout to American QWERTY instead of the standard German QWERTZ layout. I set Windows up knowing that I want to use the German layout. It's
the only layout registered on this PC. I know I've been using the English language pack but that shouldn't affect the keyboard since I used it before my reset too and I had no problems there.

I also tried left-alt + left-shift but that changes nothing (probably because I only have one keyboard layout)

Any ideas on how I may fix this?

 

Custom Keyboard Layout in Windows 11 ARM

I'm running W11 ARM on Parallels Desktop from a M1 Mac.

I'm trying to add a custom layout keyboard made with MKLC 1.4.

Microsoft says it is not supported but the software works and I'm able to create a .dll keyboard and add it to the keyboard list in "Installed Keyboard" menu in W11.

Nevertheless, that newly installed keyboard doesn't show up in my task bar. Only pre-built layouts appear.

On top of that, if a delete all pre-built layouts and keep only my custom layout, W11 use a default "american" layout without telling me.

It looks like there was a miscommunication on this thread and the person who asked the question gave up.

It is a valid question reporting a bug on Windows 11 ARM - I have the same issue

 

Keyboard Layout not changing

Hi

I have created a profile for my son (child account) and am having issues with getting the keyboard set to Engish-UK.

When I log into his account on Win 10

• I get a number of Visual C++ errors but can't see the program causing it
• Subsequently the keyboard layout is stuck on American
• I try to change to UK by removing the American language pack and setting overrides in the Advanced settings and control panel. However, the American pack continues to stay and all the changes get reverted back to original
• For the case of simplicity I have made him an Administrator on my machine though originally he was a Standard User

When I or my wife login to this machine there is no issue with keyboard layouts and we do not show the American language pack as existing on this machine. The other thing to add is that his Windows login user id is NOT a Microsoft email address but something
else (Google Custom Domain).

Appreciate if anyone has any ideas on this?
