Windows 10: Win 11 Media Player applies a stretch to videos being played back, even when the "zoom to...

A video I have is 600x600 but when playing back it is almost 2x stretched to fill the playback window.I have made sure the "zoom to fill" option is not selected.The only way to shrink the video playback to the correct size is to shrink the playback window itself, which is not accurate.

Videos are zoomed in on playback on Movies &TV and Windows Media Player as well

I would suggest you to refer the following steps and check if it helps.

a) Open Windows Media Player. Click "Library" and select "Video" to a list of video files in your media library.

b) Double-click a video file. Windows Media Player will play it.

c) Press "ALT+1" to zoom the video by 50 percent. Press "ALT+2" to zoom it by 100 percent. Press "ALT+3" to zoom it by 200 percent.

If that does not help, try running the Media player troubleshooter -

Press Windows key +X, select Control panel

Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons

Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all

option on the left panel

Run the Windows Media player settings.

Is there a way to zoom in on specific parts of a video while using a media player?

Is there a way to zoom in on specific parts of a video while using a media player? I often come across videos with detailed images or diagrams, and I'd like to be able to focus on those parts temporarily. Similar to the magnifier feature in browsers or Microsoft Word, I'm looking for a way to zoom in on specific areas during playback without permanently altering the video. Can anyone suggest a media player or a method that supports this functionality? Thank you!

For us to isolate the issue further, we’d like to know the following:

• What is the version of your Windows Media Player?
• Did you get any error message? If yes, kindly specify.

In the meantime, I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the
Windows Media player. Here are the steps how to:

• Press Win button + R on your keyboard.
• In the text box, type Control.
• On the left pane, click Turn Windows features on or off option to see Windows Features window.
• Expand Media Feature list, then uncheck Windows Media Player box. It will give a prompt message;
  this will also turn of Windows Media Center click yes as you will need
  to reinstall it after.
• Reboot PC.
• You need to reinstall Windows Media Player. Open Windows Features, tick the Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center, then install it from there.
