Windows 10: Win 11 on Surface Pro 7 will not finish install ERROR: "Windows could not finish installing..."

I did the steps to reset my Surface Pro 7 Win 11 and now it's stuck on the BLACK SCREEN with PREPARING or JUST A MOMENT... I have tried everything I can think of and/or research. A little help?

Issues Installing Windows 7 UEFI on Samsung 950 PRO NVMe SSD

I'm not able to properly install Windows 7 in UEFI on my new Samsung 950 PRO NVMe SSD. After the initial installation process, I get the following error message:

Code: Windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation. To install Windows, restart the installation.[/quote] I had already slipstreamed the USB 3.0 drivers into the Windows 7 boot.wim and install.wim files as mentioned in a couple of tutorials I've found online and placed the Samsung NVMe Drivers for Windows 7 on a separate USB drive. Loaded the drivers during install to be able to detect the 950 PRO, continued with the installation, but when it finishes and is supposed to restart and continue with the process, I get this error message. Any help would be greatly appreciated! *Smile

EDIT: NVM, I was just able to successfully install Windows 7 on a second attempt. LOL

 

Windows Updates not finishing installation

Also for Step 11.

11. Install the latest Windows Update Agent.

- there are no instructions for Windows 10 systems

And finally, after a reboot, some change. The history showed no updates at all.

I clicked to see if any updates were available. The one for January appeared, downloaded and installed, then asked for reboot. So I rebooted.

Something in that updated FAILED ...





So while the collecting list of reboot requireds seem to have been resolved, the issue with the January CU continues to fail to finish the install after a reboot.

Next steps???

 

Install doesn't finish

I did finally finish the install. What I did was I went into control panel (Windows 7 Professional) and did a search for updates and followed its steps to install Windows 10. That was a quick and simple process. So, the lesson learned is that the Windows
10 icon to install the upgrade to Windows 10 that somehow was put on my toolbar doesn't work.
