  1. Win 11 Pro: How can I setup only a "local" desktop folder?

It seems Microsoft has decided that my Desktop folder needs to reside on OneDrive for some reason.I've been able to remove "Documents" and "Downloads" from OneDrive and the misleading Quick Access listings that are there by default but not the local ones. How can I create a Desktop that is not copied / sync'ed / backed up to One Drive?I want One Drive to be empty.

    :)

  2. MohanC Win User

windows 10 deleted my desktop files

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

    • Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
    • Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
    • Click on Users, select your User name
    • Go to desktop folder
Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.

  3. Local account installation question

I'm fairly certain that Skip this step was available in 10.0.130 - the workaround in Step 20 (back button) is no longer required.

The currently known, as of 10.0.130, ways to create a Local account sign-in are
    • Skip this step at the MS account creation phase
    • No Internet connection during the install
    • static IP (post# 2 by Fragment) - New (to me anyway)

  4. Win 11 Pro: How can I setup only a "local" desktop folder?

Sync folder between Air and PC locally

I'm looking for a software which will keep folders on my Mac Air and PC synced via the local wireless network.

I usually take my Mac with me everywhere and as such have tons of large downloaded files that I have to manually copy over to the PC. I'm looking for something that'll transfer the files over the local wireless network in my home.

    Any suggestions?
