Win 7 to Win 10, how do I prevent sleep/time out? ON 24/7

    Hi everyone.

I've been running a software on Windows 7 laptop and it was great. I set it to Presentation Mode and it never sleep and every time I come back and move the mouse (monitor turns on), I am ready to work.
I now have a Samsung TabPro S with Windows 10 1709 and I couldn't figure out how to get the same Presentation Mode to always stay on. I only have a Balanced Mode.

I trying Google and most tutorial asks me to change PC Sleep to Never, which isn't what I wanted.

TLDR: How do I treat my Win 10 tablet like a desktop so I can 1. Move the mouse 2. Monitor comes back on 3. Start working

    :)

    Windows 10 updates

My computer doesn't support UEFI. As I understand it, I will not be able to use Windows 10. It's casual. But how do I know which updates to install to support Win 7, and which to ignore, as they pertain to Win 10? Also, after I clicked on install updates,
including the Win 10 reserve, I crashed and recovered to an earlier time. Is Win 10 downloading still? If I can't use Win 10, I don't want to download it.

Windows Defender - Changing scan options from 'quick' to 'full'

    Hi there

I upgrade from Windows 7 home premium 64 bit to Win 10.

Would like to change scan options from 'quick' to 'full'

But if 'quick' is good enough, how do I change the time of the scan

to around 9 or 10 PM.

9-24-2015. Edit - my apologies; I forgot to mention that I did not uninstall Win 7; also I did not

disable/deactivate MS Security Essentials before the upgrade to Win 10.

    Thanks

    The question there is
    a. which devices can potentially wake your tablet from sleep
    b. which devices are enabled to do so
    c. whether that includes a mouse.

See the powercfg command (command prompt) for more info.
    E.g. comand prompt>
    powercfg /?

However, if you don't want the device to sleep, then you're looking instead at turning off the display.

  7. Are you specifically asking for a way to disable sleep but still have the monitor automatically turn off after a timeout?

This should already an option but I don't have a Windows tablet to verify. What does your Power & Sleep settings look like?

Edit: It looks like the TabPro S supports Modern Standby. Are you trying to run a desktop app (i.e. non-Windows Store app) in the background while your tablet has its screen turned off? Please run "powercfg /a" and paste the output here.

Win 7 to Win 10, how do I prevent sleep/time out? ON 24/7

I have my Laptop setup similar to what PolarNettles shows:

Turn off the screen after 5 minutes on battery, 10 minutes plugged in.
Sleep after 10 minutes on battery, 20 minutes plugged in
Hibernate after 1 hour on battery, never plugged in.

Just set yours so when it's plugged in it will turn off the screen after what ever length of time you like, never sleep or hibernate and you have what you want. You come back, move the mouse and you system is alive and fully operational.

I wouldn't run it that way on battery though as that would drain it very quickly.

    I spoke too soon.
The Disable Lock Screen doesn't work 100%. I still get the lock screen after a longer time frame.
    Win 7 still rules.

Check all power profiles, even inactive ones. I know it sounds silly but I've had inactive power profile settings apparently (no proof) affect my system. Now I setup both profiles (Balanced and Power Saver) the same and so far (6+ months) all has been well).
