Windows 10: Win 7 to Win 10 Upgrade

So I'm biting the bullet and finally upgrading to Win10 from Win7 (upgrading my computer from Win7 hardware to Win10). However I don't have a Win10 key directly, but I do hear you can upgrade from Win7 to 10 for free still. How would this work in my case?

Would I install Win7 on the new hard drive (Evo 970 NVME drive) (ASUS Prime X570-Pro motherboard) (Ryzen 5 5600X CPU) then do the in-Windows upgrade process from 7 to 10? Or can I install Win10 directly and upgrade my Win7 key to use with Win10 another way? I'd prefer to do the Win10 clean install route if possible.

As a third question/route, would I have to install Ubuntu (presuming it supports NVME boot and Win7 does not out of the box) first, then install Win7, then do the Win10 upgrade?

I think in one of the other PC with win 7 or win 8.1 I run media creators tools and in some step prompt/found graphics card not supported... for win 10. I didn't found alone reading specs of win 10, but the tool says me... after changed graphics card the tool said all OK and continued OK with upgrade... That I ask to reach this step in this current PC - win 7 - must be all OK for the upgrade? Or must continue to upgrade to show this?

Win 7 and Win 10 on network

I have home network with separate modem, router, and WAP's. My Windows 7 computer does NOT list the Windows 10 computers on network computer list but the Windows 10 computers network list DO list the Windows 7 computer.

Turned off firewalls, gave permissions, shared drives. Nothing allows Win 7 computer to access the Win 10 computers.

Any suggestions for a fix?
