Win 7 will not dual boot with Win 10 after mobo change

This particular problem developed after the mobo change described under a different post "Wi7, Win 10, Win 11 triple boot". Since this is now a different issue, it seems appropriate to raise a new post. The following is the history of the situation :Ran into this problem after the system upgrade. Dual Boot Win 10/7 system will not boot Win 7 after mobo change. Previously, my PC ran a dual boot system without problems, Win 10 and Win 7 on separate SSD. I changed mobo, CPU and RAM so that the system would meet Win 11 requirements. New mobo is Maxtor 450 from MSI, Cpu is Athlon 3000G 3.5GHz and

Upgrade to Win 10 from dual boot win 7 / win xp

Thank you, davem121. I have upgraded the mobo and processor several times so I think they will be OK for win 10 - though I will check as you suggest.

I will also disconnect all except the sata win 7 drive as you suggest. Can I reconnect them later or will the presence of win xp (which I don't need) on one of them upset things? Do you think I could uninstall the win xp part of the dual boot before upgrading
    to win 10?

    Thanks again,

    Richard

    Win 10 boots...

I can't answer to the speed of Win-8 booting. I tried the Win-8 preview and went back to Win-7 after a month. They say that Win-8.1 is a lot better than Win-8 was.
My Win-10 TP is working well ATM.

Win 7 will not dual boot with Win 10 after mobo change

    Dual boot - Win 7 & Win 10

Maybe I will try a repair in the near future, but for now I do not want spend more time on "fixing" something that is not a necessity right now.

However, let me elaborate on my experience with dual boot.

At the time, my PC came with Windows 7 (Ultimate) OEM. Also I use a RAID1 configuration (embedded, software only, no hardware RAID components).

I installed Windows 10 (Pro) on a separate partition.

When I booted my PC, the light blue screen appeared, showing a menu that allowed selecting WIn 7 or Win 10. Also it allowed to choose which OS should be default, and the the default could be changed each time during the boot sequence.

When I chose Win 7, the PC would shutdown again and reboot, of course in Win 7.

When I chose Win 10, the PC would continue and start Win 10 without a shutdown.

Then, I re-installed Win 7 because I had a problem (see beginning of this thread).

Now, during the boot sequence, the light blue Win 10 screen no longer appears, but the Win 7 dark grey screen with the menu for selecting Win7 or Win 10. This menu does not have the option to change the default OS; Win 7 is always default. With EasyBCD
    the default can changed.

When I select Win 7 the PC starts Win 7 without a shutdown first (as was the case with Win 10 light blue screen menu).

And when I select Win 10, idem ditto, the PC starts Win 10. I do notice the following when starting Win 10: it takes (much) longer for the sign in screen to appear, the sign in screen stays on the original Win 10 picture - the one with the rocks in the
see - and no longer changes to the new pictures that Microsoft provides with Win 10. The slow start could have other reasons but it remarkable that it started happening after reinstalling Win 7.

As I wrote in the beginning of this post, I might start a repair on Win 10 via the advanced options, but I will not proceed if it will affect applications or programs that I use. I have noticed that often only Microsoft programs will not be affected after
a repair, but lots of other programs might require re-installation.
