    Windows 10 downgrade to Win 8 - License key problem

    Hi,

    I upgraded my laptop to win 10 a few months ago. Since then, Windows freezes and crashes often, so, I decided to go back to win 8.

    As the upgrade was more than a month ago, win 10 just deleted all the recovery files from win 8, leaving me with the only option to install win 8 from scratch.

    I downloaded an usd drive with win 8 and changed the bios to boot from it. The installation begins correctly, but when it asks for the win 8 license key it just says

    "The product key entered does not match any of the Windows images available for installation. Enter a different product key".

    I think the problem is that my Windows now has a different key for win 10 in the registry, and it won't accept the one from win 8. I tried to type the win10 to see if that worked, but it didn't.

    How can I go back to win 8 in this scenario????

    Update Win 10 license key not possible

    Yes, it installs Home because you have a Home key in the bios. That is normal behaviour.

    Your missing next step should be to change the installed key to your W10 Pro key which will upgrade your clean install of Home to Pro. That's Step 4 in this tutorial.
