Windows 10: WIN10 1803 system backup

After upgrade to WIN10 1803 Build 17134.165

my system backup is not longer available


Remark:

1/ only the item "make a system repair disk" is shown

2/ message : system backup is not available in an environment for portable workstations

(translated in dutch: dit onderdeel is niet beschikbaar in een omgeving voor draagbare werkstations)

I have no idea

But remark: in the same time i have an external USB Western Digital HDD connected (that was intended for use in WindowsImageBackup) and I have all access via File Explorer


Is there an alternative?

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

Using network hard drive for backup

It depends what sort of backup you want to do. If you're happy just backing up regular files, then there are a bazillion (really, that many!) different bits of freeware to do that. There is a good list here:

and pretty much all of them can do network backups. Some even have fancy options like encryption. Really, the most useful thing is just being able to schedule them and know they ran OK.

You may also want to make a system image backup too, and you'll find that software in the very same list.

I don't have Windows 8 as yet, so I'm afraid I can't suggest any for that platform. Personally, I use Clonezilla for image backups.
