Windows 10: Win10 22H2 Some folders on removeable drive are becoming Read Only

Some folders on my removeable disks are getting set to read only when I start moving files to them. I can't predict which ones. This sets the 'hidden' property to true. When I uncheck the read only box it is checked the next time I open the properties. Those folders appear to vanish until I set the View Options View to Show hidden files... I am running the watered down admin account.I can't unset this setting from explorer.exe. Is there a registry setting I can punch to unset the read only permission?I found lots of posts on this topic but none helped and most were almost 10 years old.Also,

How to remove Read Only attribute from Files and Folders?

Thank you for your response.

I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Right click on the file/folder or drive.
• Select Properties.
• Go to security tab.
• Select the user name.
• Click on Edit button.
• Under permission to Authenticated user, check on full control.
• Click on Apply and OK button.

Windows.Old Folder removed

just run the disk cleanup on C: drive to remove the windows.old folder, no need to get convoluted about it.
