  1. Win10 Bitlocker and Interactive logon: Machine account lockout?

I am VERY confused - Please help.

By setting up Full Drive Encryption on Win10 and 8 systems, with a BitLocker password, will that BitLocker password would be the same as the normal Windows user account password?
On these OS systems there is a new Local Security Policy settings called:
Interactive logon: Machine account lockout threshold
    »www.stigviewer.com/stig/ ··· /V-36772

By looking at the image shot, will that BitLocker password be the same as my Windows account password?

So in other words, when I enter this BitLocker password, will it just boot into Windows without having to type in a separate Windows logon password?

Correct me if I am wrong here, but does this mean that in Win10, the BitLocker Password is used in conjunction with the Windows Account logon password?

Or lets say that I have a Windows 10 Admin password created, and I enter that account's Windows password too many times, does this mean that when the account is locked out, it will affect BitLocker as well?
Or, does my Windows Account password is considered itself a BitLocker password?
I am confused here. Please explain.

    :)

    Windows 10 LAN not connecting

@Larry When you attempt to logon to your Win7 machine/s Windows should pop up a dialog asking for logon credentials. By default, the credentials shown are for your Windows10 machine, make sure you change them to the relevant credentials for the Windows 7
machine/s, or choose use another account and use your Windows 7 credentials, ie: username and password.

This may not apply if you are using Homegroup. In that case, I would suggest you switch the Win7 machine/s to use a work network and disable Homegroup. There are plenty of resources to show you how to do that, assuming you haven't already.

For me, I have the opposite problem, I can logon and browse shared folders on my Win7 Machine, but if I am at the Win7 machine I cannot logon to the Win10 machine. I get the following error message:

\\MachineName is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource.

Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

    Logon failure: account currently disabled.

So I contacted the administrator (me), but he's a real dummy and could not figure out which account the message referred to?

I am logged into the Win 10 machine using a Microsoft account, which is I suspect, part of the problem.

    Can anyone help?

  4. Win10 Bitlocker and Interactive logon: Machine account lockout?

The Bitlocker password is not linked to your user account - the 2 are completely independent programs that have their own security settings.

  5. Then how come from my second image it shows the Windows logon screen warning you if your User Account password is entered too many incorrect times, the system will reboot forcing the Bitlocker Recovery Key?

  6. There is a Bitlocker PIN (Which you enter in to the Blue Screen), then there is a separate password for your Windows account. The local security policy setting "Interactive Logon: Machine Account Lockout Threshold" is specifically for use in conjuction with Bitlocker encrypted systems. If you have this policy set, it prevents Brute-Force Logon in to Windows. You must first enter your Bitlocker PIN (If set), then you must also log in to Windows. If you use the wrong password too many times on your Windows account, that local security policy will cause the system to go in to Bitlocker Recovery Mode.
