Windows 10: WIN10 black screen on login, even on safe mode. system restore doesnt accept pw.

My pc suddenly turned black screen when logging into windows 10 account.I can get to loggin screen but after entering password, takes an unusally long time to load, and then puts me on black screen.i can see cursor but that is all. ctrl+alt+del brings up a menu but clicking on anything gets no reactiontried booting in safe mode both with and without network, and both also end on black screen with windows logo, but unable to open anything

Password not accepted in Safe mode

Have you tried all the above steps suggested by Sangeeta Sarkar on September 13, 2015.

I would suggest you to provide some information to help you better.

• Are you trying to login the Microsoft account or the Local account in safe mode?
• Did you try with only safe mode or safe mode with networking?
• What is the critical error you are getting?

If you are using Windows 10. To go to safe mode you have to follow the below steps.

If you are able to go to login screen in normal mode try the below steps to go to safe mode with networking.

• 
  At the login screen click on the power symbol.
  
• 
  Hold SHIFT + Click Restart.
  
• 
  After restarting your system, select the Troubleshoot option.
  
• 
  Select advanced options under
  Troubleshoot screen.
  
• 
  Click on Startup Settings.
  
• 
  Click Restart and follow the onscreen steps to go to
  Safe Mode with networking and check if you are able to login.

Black screen after login in

You can try the following steps to fix black screen after login in caused by KB5022360:

1. Boot into Safe Mode
   
2. Uninstall the problematic update (KB5022360)
   
3. Restart your computer normally
   
4. Check if the black screen issue has been resolved.
   

If the issue still persists, try the following:

1. Run System File Checker (SFC) to repair any corrupted system files
   
2. Perform a system restore to a previous point before the update was installed.
   

 

Black screen even in safe mode

I'm getting a black screen with cursor after login, Windows 10. Ctrl-alt-delete shows options but choosing task manager reverts to black screen. Can enter safe mode but same issue with black screen/no task manager. Suspect display drivers may be a factor
but cant find any way to disable them. Have tried recovery mode options including uninstall updates (couldn't, encountered a problem), system restore (couldn't), start-up repair (no difference). Any suggestions appreciated.
