    Win10 BSOD on reboot

I have a MSFT Surface Pro (2017) model 1796. Bought Jun 2017 brand new from Amazon.

running windows 10 pro Version 1803 build 17134.228 (April 2108 update). I updated patches just yesterday.

for the last 6 months or so, most of the time when I reboot (maybe 98%) (sometimes for patches, sometimes not), I get a BSOD. Sometimes it only happens once but yesterday it happened 5 or 6 times. i just keep rebooting until it boots successfully. Most of the time, it gets to the point where it almost displays the logon screen (sometimes windows hello, sometimes my Pin)

Unfortunately, I haven't kept complete records of software installs. I do have many additional software installed: ie Quicken 2018, Cellica Database WiFi Personal Edition, Aquasnap, Duet Display, HP and Samsung printers.

the last 5 mini dump files, all from today, say:
    SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
The problem seems to be caused by the following file: ntoskrnl.exe

In 4 of the dump files, the 1st parameter is 0x0000000080000003

in the other it is 0x00000000c000001d

    today i ran:

    C:\_Links>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.
Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 100% complete.
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

I have of course done some Googling but there are too many possibilites.

Can anyone provide useful help \ suggestions ?

    Thanks

    :)

PC reboots (no BSOD) on CPU stress

    Hi fellow TPU members,

not too long ago, the box my gf's PC was transported in gave way on the stairs. Yes, you got it right, that sent a PC tumbling down a flight of steps alright.

Stuff broke. Also, stuff remained intact somehow.

I bought her a new case, new CPU cooler and we removed the floppy drive, so far so good. But the PC started crashing for no apparent reason, without a BSOD.

    I tested:
    • Memtest86+, left overnight, 0 errors
    • Scanned the HDD for errors, nothing there
    • Left FurMark burning up the GFX card and drawing some power, no problems there
    • Ran Ubuntu from a Live CD doing nothing special, didn't crash
    • Ran OCCT, Linpack, Prime95, all 3 caused reboots within minutes
    • Oh, and I disabled "Restart on error" so I'm sure it's not a BSOD.
Now, I can still try and test something CPU intensive on Ubuntu, but my guess is the CPU didn't survive.
Before I do anything drastic like whippin' out the magic wallet and get her a new AMD quad, is there anything I didn't see?
I'm guessing the motherboard could be borkered as well, but can I check that other than replacing the CPU with a working one?
Any suggestions on which proggies I can use from an Ubuntu Live CD to stress the CPU?

PC reboots (no BSOD) on CPU stress

Try OCCT with just one stick of ram if crash then try the 2nd stick by it self. Lets eliminate the ram from the scenario.

I would think its more likely to be the Ram cuz of OCCT or maybe the mobo but I doubt the tumble did anything to the CPU.

    Win10 BSOD on reboot

    BAD_POOL_HEADER BSOD, Dump File attached

    Hi Groggubus,

    Welcome to the 10forums *Smile

Please remove / disable items from the startup in taskmanager
These programs could interfere with the boot process giving you trouble and increase the boot time.

Daemon tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known cause for BSOD's.
Please remove Daemon Tools and run the SPTD pass through remover.

    • Uninstall Daemon Tools
    • Download the SPTD standalone installer and follow these steps:
      • Double click the executable to open it
      • Click on the button shown below

    Win10 BSOD on reboot [IMG]

If the button is grayed out, like in the image, there is no more SPTD installation on your system, and you can close the window

Please follow this suggestion for the BSOD
    • Please open BitDefender and go to the modules,
    • Go to the firewall settings,
    • Uncheck 'Block port scans in the network',
    • Reboot your system <-- IMPORTANT
