Windows 10: Win10 custom folder icons desktop.ini not working in network after update KB5018410

HelloFor many years now I have been creating custom Icons for my folders.I view my folders for Pictures, Music … in thumbnail view. This is the favorite way to display them. This works great localy and before update KB5018410 it worked also great in my local network. But now if I view my folder in network they don’t show the custom Icon, they now show just a big yellow folder icon…At first I thought the installation of Win10 is bugged at my main PC I use I use many Win10 devices and searched for a solution on the internet. Many cases with not working thumbnail view were really old and fixed

Is the system connected to domain?

Please be informed that you may customize the Network icon. You may not be able to customize the available
networks under the Network. Try the below steps and check if it helps to customize the Network icon.

  Press Windows + I keys on the keyboard to open
  Settings menu.
  
• 
  Click on Personalization.
  
• 
  Select Themes from the left navigation pane.
  
• 
  Click on Desktop icon settings.
  
• 
  Click on Network and click on
  Change icon.
  
• 
  Select the icon which you prefer and click on
  OK.
  
• 
  Click on Apply button and click on
  OK button.
  

The above steps will help you to customize the Network icon.

Desktop INI and Autorun

So... I have multiple external hdds. I have autoruns on them to generate Labels and Icons. That is working properly. I have multiple sub folders on those hdds. I need 2 different types of Desktop INIs that I cannot seem to get working.

**NOT Working**
I need the parent on each of these hdds to:
- show large icon (or just icon) view

*Working*
I need subfolders within the parent to:
- assign icon
- show icon view

**NOT Working**
I need subfolders within the subfolders to:
- show list view

 

How to change icons of network share folders?

Choosing a custom icon for shortcuts works well when they're on the desktop but when pinning them to the quick access they show their original icon from imageres.dll

So i think there isn't any other possibility
