Win10 File Explorer - unable to delete nested folders

Not 100% sure I am using 'nested' in the proper context, but what I'm trying to describe are situations where I want to delete a folder that contains other sub-folders. When I try to delete a folder such as c:\documents\Folder\subfolder\subfolder\etc and the subfolders may or may not contain files; but when I click delete, while selecting the Folder, I am denied the ability to complete the command and get a warning saying one or more of the subfolders are not empty. How can I convince W10 to complete the command?thx

    :)

Unable to delete a folder - Invalid folder name

    Suggestion:
    1. Run chkdsk x: /r to make sure that there's no HD corruption.
x: is the drive containing the folder you want to delete.
    2. Try to delete the folder again. If still does not work, go to step 3.
    3. Download: Download - Linux Mint and create a bootable USB using: Rufus - Create bootable USB
    4. Boot up with Linux Mint and try to delete the folder again.
NOTE: Unlike WinPE. Linux does not have any Windows permission imposed to it so it is easier to delete.

  4. Win10 File Explorer - unable to delete nested folders

    nested desktop folder

After I examining your folder listing, I need to ask for some clarification:

    • Where exactly do you feel you have the unwanted nested folders?
    • The Downloads folder is normalla located here:

      C:\Users\Doug\Downloads

In your case it is located here:

      C:\Users\Doug\Desktop\New Personal\Downloads

Is there any particular reason for this?
