Win10 Folder Share Enter Network Credentials

    Hi,

I'm having an issue with one laptop on my home network, I have 3 Win10 devices, they are all logged into using the same Microsoft account. I'm able to share folders between two of them but this one laptop always requests 'Enter Network Credentials' and it's not clear what credentials it's after. I've tried the microsoft account ones it's the same on all boxes but no joy, it just seems so vague and un-intuitive.

Note all 3 have been updated and say 'Your up to date' and then rebooted. Sharing is enabled on all devices and the password option is unchecked on all.

I see a lot of people are struggling like myself with various types of similar issues so I've been going through other solutions between the sighing for a few days now.

Rather than keep going around in circles getting more frustrated I thought I'd try the community for help. I just cant get away from the feeling that this should be simple and not consume so much time.

    :)

Problem sharing files and Network Credentials error

Hi, networking in Win 10 is frustrating to set up and requires multiple steps- you are far from alone in reporting issues. Indeed, even when it is correctly configured people have found it needs 'help' so when you boot up or resume a PC, networking is re-established in a reasonable time.

From the Tutorial section (do take time to become familiar with this fantastic resource):
    Ten Forums - Tutorials

Here's the starting point for setting it up:
Share Files and Folders Over a Network in Windows 10

Note that related tutorials are always listed after the main body of the text.

The comments following may help you assess some of the issues you've encountered.

Note you can back up and restore shares and permissions, but I've not seen a way to reset them:
Backup and Restore Network Shares and Permissions in Windows

It may be. As you might guess, it means the link is broken/not valid/temporarily not available.

This will be how you created your mapped drive:
Map Network Drive in Windows 10
(I find the title confusing, as it's really mapping a networked folder...)
Z: simply points to a folder on another PC on your network. The x will disappear when networking is established.

    Password/credentials expired: a search for
    windows netorking password expired
may help. This reviews this issue:
