Windows 10: Win10 Fonts are oversized and bold in several applications' configuration screens

After fresh installation of Windows 10 I started experiencing font issue with two of my applications (not all).
Configuration menus, such as options->configure, or edit->configure show font that stretches past the visible
edge of the configuration window. It is also bold. However, the rest of the fonts appear normal. I have attached
two screenshots to illustrate.


So far I have tried the following to resolve
1. Reset the fonts under control panel ->appearance->Restore default font settings
2. Used 3rd party FontReg.exe application to re-register the fonts
3. Change scale and layout under Display configuration, and also Advanced scalings with 'let windows try fix apps so that they arent blury'
4. Tried to change the applications compatibility, DPI scaling settings (I didnt have to do this before reinstallation, both apps just worked).
5. Made sure that cleartype is enabled
6. Reinstalled applications into different folders in order to re-create registry entries.
7. Can't revent to previous restore point as system is new and none exist.

The rest of the fonts are perfectly normal such as this example

Bold font

unfortunately that didn't help. I'm still getting that bold font. I'm not sure which it is but Arial seems to be the go to font. I tried to uninstall the Bold one and was unable to do so. They said it was protected. Any other suggestions?

This issue may have been caused by a Windows 10 update that changed your font settings automatically. If you recently updated your operating system, we suggest that you follow these steps to see if the font will go back to normal:

• Type font in the search bar.
• Select Change Font settings.
• Click Restore default font settings.

Times new roman bold font

To further isolate the concern, we suggest that you restore default settings and check if it helps. See steps below:

• Press the Windows key + X, and then click on Control
  Panel.
• Change the View by to large/small
  icons, and then click on Fonts.
• On the left pane, click on Font settings.
• Under Font settings, click on Restore default font settings.

If restoring the default font settings does not bring back the Times New Roman Regular font, we suggest that if you have another computer with Windows 10, you can copy the Times New Roman Regular font into your PC's Font folder.
