Win10 fresh install has slowed evrything down instead of speeding it u

I initially installed Windows 10 the 1st week it was available (laptop). 2 weeks ago I bought a new SSD to replace my HD. After creating an image to my SSD I reinstalled windows 10 using its own fresh install feature--no extra stuff that came originally with the PC was now installed. I also installed my Office and Adobe suite along with just 2 or 3 other apps. A day or 2 later Windows updated itself. Anyhow, I could tell how much better the SSD by how it reboots much faster. but something odd has happened as well--everything else is slower much slower. In Windows Explorer i can actually see the icons build themselves (turn into images) whereby before it was instant. Advancing a video stutters, The browsers seem to take longer to load pages. etc. etc. It seemed to me that perhaps I was 'virused' or something (though I am extremely careful when surfing and all software is 100% legal) or that in the installation of the SSD my RAM card(s) got damaged. So I did a thorough virus/malware check with not only what W10 provides but also 4 other well' established web ones. and nothing was found. I also did a RAM check and again nothing. So my problem can not be any of these things. it must be windows. Oh yeah and it seems to often forget its defaults as well (for media files since I often get prompted with "Windows found a problem with app ABC and is reverting to windows media center" or something along those lines. 1-no bloatware should mean faster PC 2-fresh install should mean faster pc 3-SSD drive should mean faster pc. why is it doing the opposite instead? What is going on please? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you

    :)

  3. I believe I have adware on my Microsoft Edge

But is there a way to get rid of them instead of using an adblocker? I've heard that adware can slow down internet speed and slow down your computer...

Oh yeah, I now have the black screen with flashing cursor upon boot as well which I did not have before (but I read elsewhere what to do about this, so not really an issue, and had figured it out on my own.

It might be a bad windows installation, or it might be the new SSD is not working properly.

As it is a new installation, IMHO the first place to start with would be another clean reinstall. If nothing changes, see how it goes with another HDD or SSD.

And please fill up your system specs properly. Those will help the other members to help you in a better manner.

System specs?? What is needed exactly? The reason that wasn't filled out is that I own 3 computers and specs for all 3 would be confusing.
In re: to this problem it is my laptop.
    OS: Windows 10 Home (x64) Ver 1511 (build 10586.122)
    Computer: Acer Aspire E1-532P V2.10
Processor: 1.40 ghtz Intel Celeron 2955U
    Board: Acer EA50_HW V2.10
SSD drive: Crucial: CT480BX200 (Where the OS sits)
    HDD: Seagate ST500LT012-9WS142
    RAM
    : 3978 Megabyte (don't know make)
    Controller: Intel(R) 8 Series SATA AHCI Controller - 9C

    -2- Lenovo L197 Wide Monitor
    Bus Adapters :

I don't think it's the new SSD but I could check it out (I hope not since it was purchased in Taiwan while on holidays there and I'm not there now).
The odd thing which has been happening, since I posted this, is that it seems to be slowly getting better on its own. For. ex. no black screen in its last 4 boots and Explorer is now showing its icons quite quickly. Oh and all drivers so far seem to be up-to-date or the new ones are not compatible with Win10 (Many of them came out a month b4 Windows 10)

You need to fill up the system specs at the right place. https://www.tenforums.com/profile.php?do=extra

It is there at the bottom left corner of your every post. You can update it there too.

Another thing, troubleshooting does not depend on thinking. Be sure that the new SSD is not failing.

Hi Arc, you made me laugh by saying, "troubleshooting does not depend on thinking" Win10 fresh install has slowed evrything down instead of speeding it u :) How right you are but I didn't mean it as such. I meant, seeing that I don't consider myself and expert, just knowledgeable, that based on my experience and my testing I found nothing wrong. I used the manufacturer's testing software to test my SSD and all seemed fine according to it--but how can I trust it? Based on this I said I would test it further and now I have. I used ATTO Disk Benchmark (do u know of another one?). See attached photos.
Attachment 67994 Attachment 67995 (PS : specs have been filled.

FWIW similar issue here, but the third install made it all right. I just kept going, made no changes at all in my set up or hardware. I'm wondering if it has to do with updates fetched during the installation process, as it does say something like "getting important updates" at some point prior to full boot up to the desktop.

It may very well be a windows related problem, but out of curiosity have you checked to make sure there are no new firmware updates for your SSD? I am a member over on PCSX2 forums and several users there who moved up to SSDs reported problems which were fixed by updating the firmware Win10 fresh install has slowed evrything down instead of speeding it u :p I don't have one yet myself...

It has been my observation that it may be a good idea to just let windows 10 sit for awhile after it has been installed, just because you can see the desktop and its icons does not mean that it is ready to be used, there are still things going on in the background, which you can tell if you look at your hd indicator led. When I am setting up windows and it first boots to the desktop I will give it 5-10 minutes to finish up what it needs to do before I attempt any customizations or start installing any programs.

At least that is what works for me *Cool

All installations do take their time. I usually leave and let it do its thing. And then usually wait to the day after before I begin installing other software and so forth hence why a reinstall is not something I enjoy doing. And as mentioned, as far as I know all my hardware drivers have been updated along with it. No. something is very odd here since W10's behavior doesn't seem normal at all and quite sporadic--sometimes good and sometimes not at all (As mentioned, besides all updated hardware and all hardware checked/tested to be working well, there is also no malware, virus etc. and all of my software is legal--some yet to be installed; including some of the 'bloatware' which I liked.)

pintree3: If I may play devils advocate here for a minute:

as far as I know all my hardware drivers have been updated along with it.** not quite sure what you mean here, did you update drivers yourself, run a program to do so, or think that windows 10 did?

there is also no malware, virus etc.: how do you know this?, what antivirus, antimalware, ect do you use?

I see you have a SSD, what are the hd properties settings for it?

Did you run the action center, all settings, and then step thru each category and sub category and make adjustments as needed?

That's all I got for now, gonna call it a day *Cool

    thanks dafanman.
What I mean is that all drivers have been updated; yes, I used windows and yes, I went to the individual hardware sites, starting with Acer, then to intel, my SSD and so forth. Why I said 'as far as I know' is because you go to one site and it tells you one thing you go to another and it tells you something else. And what I mean by this is that the manufacturer tells you to go to your computer company and your computer company has drivers that are ''old'' (And no, I did not run a program that updates drivers, reason being is that I have yet to find one that actually does a good job regardless of what the claims may be).

As to no malware etc. I think I said it at the beginning of my post that I used many of them, my windows default one and 3 or 4 reputable online ones (Besides, as a fresh install and not having gone anywhere-definitely not porn/gambling/download sites etc. where would such a virus malware come from to start off with?).
SSD properties settings? I don't know. I ran the tests and they tell me all is fine (as mentioned)--as to actually reading these tests I don't know enough to understand them. (Do the images I provided say anything to you?)
Did I "run the action center"? Yes, but sorry to say I don't see the connection. I'm aware some feature may slow things down here and there but whatever adjustments I made now were made before so the issue is not there. There is something about the fresh install which does not do things the same as when it installed itself over win 8.1. As logic as this may sound, the answer's gotta be there somewhere--or as I mentioned it may have something to do with the latest updates. (And then there's Cortana which doesn't seem to know the difference between A and B--favoring the web and Chinese over everything, but that's another issue.)
