Win10 Image Restore - Will only C Drive be overwritten?

So, I'm going to update my other laptop to Win 10 Pro and then try creating a Win10 restore partition etc following the tutorial by Kari, but I have a question relating to my dropbox data which is currently on the C drive partition.

Presumably if I leave it on the C drive I will need to specifically exclude it from the win10 image file creation process as it will be too big to end up in my win10 image file. I wonder if the best option is to move Dropbox to drive D, then clean up C and do the win10 image creation. If I then have to use recovery to re-load the win10 image will it only overwrite C drive and leave the other partitions intact, or will it overwrite the whole hard disk. I'm not worried about losing the data on D drive as its all in Dropbox but it would be a pain to have to download 400GB again. I'm also thinking maybe I should copy Dropbox to an external HDD before I do the win10 image.

    :)

Restoring Windows 10 Image using Macrium Reflect

In addition to the above. Here's my suggestion in step by step.
I assume you have Macrium Installed in your current HD and already made a backup copy.
    1. Connect your new HD via USB port and boot up.
    2. Run Macrium, click on Restore tab then select the Backup Image that you made to restore
    3. click on "select a different target disk" then select your new HD as destination

    4. Proceed to restore then Shutdown and disconnect the old HD and replace with the new HD
    5. Boot up with your new HD.

  3. System Image Problem

    Bill,

Could you elaborate on the Nick's Data? I've already done a Sys Img to G: drive.
What is a Belarc Advisor audit?

Rebooting now to see if drives stay the same.

  4. Win10 Image Restore - Will only C Drive be overwritten?

Image Restore for Win10 will not complete.

Erik: Thanks very much for the information you provided, but I have a few other questions concerning my re-installation of Win10:

    1) Is there anything I need to do to the new hard drive before I attempt to reload Win10? i.e. formatting ?

    2) Do I boot from the USB which has the creation tool on it after I install the new hard drive? and

    3) Will the image restore on my external hard drive bring back
all the programs and files that I had before? I had a few old programs on the hard drive that crashed that are
    extremely important.

Please let me know, and, if possible, give me a list, in chronological order, that I can follow to restore my system back to its original condition.

Thanks again- I really appreciate your help.
