Win10 in an update/unable to update loop since May

    Hello all,

I have Win10, upgraded from Win7 during Microsoft's promotion years ago. I only use it a few times a year.

Back in May 2020, it tried to update. It went through the 30% of upgrade installed, rebooted, then spent a while on the rest of the update. Once it was finished and it tried to log in, it gave a screen "We couldn't complete the updates. Undoing changes. Don't turn off your computer."

Then it took another couple of hours undoing part, rebooting, and undoing the rest. But it seems to have more than undone the updates. It makes me put in not only my Win10 password, but my email password that I updated over the years because of a notice that it might have been compromised. It puts me back into a tour of Win10 and then the Browser. It's like a new install of Win10, but my programs and files are still accessible.

I've tried 6 or seven times over the last months since I do not like to be left with a vulnerable, non-updated system. I've moved to another operating system meanwhile until I get this straightened out. But there are many programs that I have installed and paid for that are on Win10. I turn off auto updates now for as long as it allows I think 2 months. But then it tries again and I lose another day of work.

I tried calling support at one point but the tech seemed not to understand the issue and said he could not help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    :)

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

    When in win10:
    • Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....
Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
    - Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

    Hello
    Win10: Windows update is stuck at never ending loop ? ( Last Win10 updates in 2017 ). Can't update the laptop. Genuine Win10 on a HP 2015 17.3" laptop that originally had Win8. ( CPU:AMD A9, GPU:Radeon R5 ).

If I download this below file does it manually install the latest updates of Win10 (=2018 April Update) without losing any files currently on the machine ? ( Mainly paid Office 2013 )
    MediaCreationTool1803.exe
    Download Windows 10

    Win10 updates

Which Windows updates in 8.1 where the gateway to installing Win10? I've ALWAYS had update as a "check but let me decide" basis however I woke up to this.

With a bunch more (even AMD 7900 drivers, like wtf)

I'm trying to avoid the Win10 shitfest but good lord what has Microsoft done.
