Win10 in SSD, docs, apps and temp files on HDD?

    I have a 128gb SSD and a 1TB HDD.

When I initially set this up on Windows 7, I had to move the default documents, apps and temp files folders to the HDD.

I am have upgraded to Win10, but want to do a fresh clean install.

Do I need to do anything to point not only my documents and apps but temp files to save to the HDD by default?
I know i can do this in storage settings for apps, docs etc - but what about temp and other files?

    Any suggestions - thanks?

    :)

  2. Downloads

    Hello,

I have an SSD as Boot Drive and after installing Win10 I wanted to move all Temp Files to a local HDD to preserve the SSD. I think I left off the backslash when I redirected the Downloads folder in Properties. Now I can't access the new Downloads folder from
Quick access in File Explorer to correct the mistake.

Question: Is there another way to correct this mistake without reinstalling Windows twice because Win10 was a free upgrade from Win7?!?

    Win10 on 8GB SSD

I'm looking to purchase a new Laptop with an 8 GB SSD (and 1TB HD) presumably for the OS. It comes preloaded with 8.1 64bit.

I understand the requirement for the Win10 64-bit Free Upgrade download is 20gb. But I have also read the from beta participants the .iso is under 4gb. Is the extra space requirement for temp files, os operation, virtual memory, ect.?

Is there any way I will be able to run Win10 on a 8 GB SSD? Assuming everything possible will be loaded on the 1TB HD.

Appreciate any help anybody can offer before I decide to purchase this laptop.

What I did with my Win10 Tablet is set the Virtual Memory/paging file to 2GB on the 32GB C: drive then on the added 64GB MicroSDXC card set the same to 4GB, gives me more space on C: and better overall performance. The same can be done with an SSD/HDD combination or 2 HDDs.

Sure, my C is an M.2 drive and only has windows and most apps and my currently most played games, at the moment DooM and Fallout 4.

I have separate SSD drives along with that for each document need, one for audio stuff, one for video, and then a couple of normal HD's for storage and documents, which are mirrored to USB3 drives.

All I do is just go to like 'music' shortcut in file manager and make it point to/relocate to whatever drive I want it to go to.

    No problem.

Also most games I install to E drive...I have only used Steam and Origin for games for a long time now...when I get a new large game I install it to M.2 but later might move it to E.
