Windows 10: Win10 Installation Media Corrupt

I have an older system that is unable to run Win11 so I am trying to reinstall Win10 on it using a new NVME drive. I have created the installation media using a 64gb NTFS usb drive. I have the system able to post, but when I insert the installation media and start it I get a screen with vertical lines in this brown/yellow alternating colors. Installation media boots to command prompt

I've just booted from known working install media to see exactly what it does when booting. The sequence of events is...

1. Windows logo on a black screen
2. circling dots appear beneath the logo
3. light blue 'Please wait' screen with circling dots
4. a command prompt window (very briefly)
5. the initial Setup page appears

Do you see steps 1-3? If so, it appears you have stopped at step 4, suggesting that something on the disc cannot be read.

Does the disc boot properly in another machine? If so, try cleaning the laptop's drive lens then try booting from the disc again.

If not, make new install media with Microsoft's Media Creation Tool, either as a bootable USB, on an ISO that you can burn to another disc. At Step 8 in Option One of this tutorial you can choose between making a USB or an ISO.

Method 1:

I would suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps:

• Open the run window, typewmplayer.exe and hit enter to check if that opens Windows Media Player.
• To update Media Player: Click the Help menu, and then click Check for Updates.
• To know which version of media player is installed, click on Help menu and click on "about".

If the issue still persist try the second method.



Method 2: Perform System File Checker (sfc) scan.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

Note: Steps mentioned for Windows 8/8.1, will work fine with Windows 10.

It could be due to a corrupted installation for Groove or the media pack.

I would suggest you uninstall & reinstall both or perform the following troubleshooting steps listed in this microsoft support article.
