Windows 10: Win10 IPv4 not working after waking up from sleep

    Win10 IPv4 not working after waking up from sleep


    I have a few Win10 PC at home and they all start having network connection issue over WiFi since a few days ago, after Windows update.

    I did some troubleshooting and found the network issue happens when the PC wake up from sleep mode.

    And interesting enough only IPv4 is having problem. IPv6 works fine my ISP provides both IPv4 & IPv6 services.


    Ping IPv6 www.google.com 2607:f8b0:400b:801::2004 is good, while ping 8.8.8.8 gets timeout.

    When I browse, some website works IPv6 some not IPv4.


    Every other Apple devices Mac/iPhone/iPad and Android phones work fine.


    Rebooting the Win10 PC will bring it back 80% of the time but not every time. And even if it works, it takes a few minutes before I can ping 8.8.8.8 again, while pinging IPv6 works right away.


    Is there any known issue recently?

    computer wake-up after sleep

    Hi Bill,

    There's a possibility that the settings that enables your Space bar to wake your computer up from sleep was reset after updating Windows. If this what had happened, we suggest that you just re-set it up. See the steps below on how to do
    so:

    • Press Windows key and type keyboard in.
    • Click on Keyboard option and a pop-up windows should show up.
    • From there, go to > Hardware tab > Properties >
      Change settings > Power management > Allow this device to wake the computer >
      OK/Apply.

    Try the if the steps did work and let us know any updates.

    Did all the steps exactly as shown above and "Allow this device to wake the computer" was already selected.

    I think you might have miss-understood the problem. It appears that the computer is waking up, but it doesn't re-connect to my display. I have to turn off the display and turn it back on to get my display to to re-connect. This was not a problem prior to
    the last Win 10 upgrade.

    Ok, so it is really a sleep related problem now I've read it again.
    Appreciate you've already tried many perfectly reasonable things.
