Windows 10: Win10 Mail App Attachment issues

Hello,


This problem only started recently. I am unable to download attachments in emails - the loading circle turns forever.


Things I have tested:

1. The problem is only with the company exchange email; outlook account bound to the Mail App doesn't have this problem

2. The problem happens using local network and mobile hotspot with and without VPN to other countries; the problem doesn't occur at home network

3. OWA and smartphone mail works fine

4. ..and the weirdest part is if I Foward the email with the un-downloadable attachment, the Mail App miraculously downloads it in the email draft. After closing the draft email, the attachment remains downloaded in the original email.

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

 

Win10 Mail - docx attachments are hidden

• Are you referring to Mail app or Outlook.com? Mail App v 17.6416.42001.0.
• Is the issue specific to Documents only? ?????? What is "Documents" here try to refer to? Is this the Documents folder? What it has to do with mail attachments? Please clarify.
• Since when are you facing this issue? recently

Re Method 1: I can not download the attachment as it is hidden as I wrote in the first message. (it shows as if it do not have the attachment). Other mail client (thunderbird) shows the attachment fine.

Re Method 2: Does not help.

Method 1:

Download and save the file first and try to open it. If that does not work then check the file associations for the file type.

1. From the search bar, type file association.

2. View the listed file extensions and locate the file type that you are trying to open.

3. Tap or click the file type then tap or click Change program.

4. Follow the instructions on the screen to select the application you want to set as default for the file type.
