  1. Win10 no file or drive security options

This problem has come up again I don’t know what’s up with it, when you go to properties and check file security it’s not there preventing me from resetting or changing permission’s. Not sure if these is the reason Ifranview keeps getting uninstalled or if that was happening before it.

Kaspersky and Malware bytes is on it so malware and viri should not easily get to muck it up I am starting to think my uncles computer hates sleep mode and its fouling data up..

Are updates known to cause this issue or is it just more likely to be data corruption from not being shut off correctly? Scan disc does not seem to find any issues….

    :)

  2. resetting the pc

    Hi,

my laptop has slowed down and was thinking about resetting the pc through the security options.

The lappy came with windows 7 and i upgraded it to win10.

If i reset the pc , will it reset to win7 or win10?

Will it only reinstall C drive or all the drives?

If i shift my files to D drive, will all my files be saved?

    Awaiting your reply

    Regards

"backup and restore win 7" or "recovery" for win10, which one to use on Win10?

still confused about system image (win7 terminology) vs recovery on usb (win10 terminology)...

we have 3 machines, some with win7, some with win10. which backup/restore/recovery/system image ??? program should I use to ensure that I have backups/restore/recovery/system image ??? available in case of pc failure?

the terms used in win7 and win10 are very confusing.

If the preference is to use "recovery" in Win10, why is there an option to choose "backup and restore Windows 7" available in Win10

also, re win10, hate to use up a large flash drive just for a recovery in win10 (when creating a recovery in win10, it wipes out all other files on the flash drive). Will the recovery option still work from a flash drive with other files on the drive?

Win10 no file or drive security options

You can change the permissions on just about any folder or file, unless it is a Windows process or is in use, so, if you don't know what you are doing, then don't change permissions.
Ifranview should not uninstall, but your security software may have a false positive that this program is a virus. You can go to your security software and look at the logs to see if it is Quarantined, you can mark this program as Safe and to Restore it in your security software.

  5. It passes the scan tests, I put ifran view on it months ago so I can print stuff out since win10 has a worse print system than 8. I don't use that computer alot but it gets used 2-4 times a week for surfing and printing by others, I just noticed for the 2nd time this year it ate security options so I cna;t change any folders or files permissions, Ifan is stuck in permissions limbo and won't even work now . Last time it did that I had to reinstall due since it even effected other profiles. I've not checked to see if its a profile issue or not this time around but i want to try and run down as to whats causing this, I'll try uninstalling kaspersky and malware bytes after I test a new profile. But this all seems vaguely familiar IE when windose gets file/registry corruption from bad sleep mode or shut down stuff.

Also with win10 screwing over updates 3 or 5 times now was wondering if that could cause it since the update bugs have resulted in a whole new problem every time its cropped up.
