    Win10 problem

    If you read the last part of my post where I said: you can use Macrium to re-align the partition scheme without re-installing Apps etc... and make Windows looks like as if you do a fresh install.
    @OldMike65
    I thought that the link for upgrade/Repair was existed along with the ISO download. The screen ask you to either download or upgrade now.

    Yes, I know what you mean if he doesn't have the ISO available. However, he clearly stated that he had the ISO then it would be faster to do directly from the ISO.

    @topgundcp Yes again I agree with what you are saying about that user in this thread, but we were talking about the future and if a user didn't have the iso, but their windows was messed up. This could be a easier way to repair....if it works that way. Was not talking about that user that already had his iso.....whew.....lol *Smile

    Listen you know much more than I will ever learn, you've helped me out a lot in the past, your like a computer geek of all time!! I always respect your ideas.....always will.....this is just something new.....and we were just asking questions about this new method....that's all....*Smile

    This is the part I don't understand. How could it be any easier ? Both ways, you still have to download either the ISO or the install.esd to your PC then do upgrade/repair.

    1. Please understand not everyone uses Macrium or any 3rd party of that kind.
    2. Clean Install is not party of the equation. You offer a better choice but that is not my question.
    My question is strictly on ..............
    I just want to know what if I do need a repair install and I do use the Upgrade Now option.
    Do I get Win 10 Home or Win 10 Pro after repair install ?
    That is all I would like to know.

    And this is what I would like to know toooo!!! But from what I was reading in another thread, this link does not require the user to download any iso.... how it works, I'm still trying to figure that out myself. Also like I said earlier so is Brink, as he does not understand what this NEW link does exactly either, and said he was going to run some tests on this new link himself to find out what it does exactly ....

    On a Windows 10 system, Upgrade Now link will do exactly the same thing as the rollout of the November update did via Windows update. On a Windows 7/8/8.1 system, the Upgrade Now link will do exactly the same thing as the Get Windows 10 update from Windows update does.

    Personally, I don't like letting Microsoft do everything for me. I like downloading the ISO, making sure it is complete and not corrupted, and then doing the upgrade myself. Some people with less technical experience or desire prefer one click solutions.

    My guess would be the upgrade uses the underlying edition to determine which to install unless there is a key in the firmware.
    Thus if a Win 8 Core key is in the firmware it will "upgrade" to Home, otherwise the current edition.

    Even if there is a key in firmware, it will upgrade the existing edition installed to the matching edition as long as the existing edition installed appears to be properly activated.
