"You are not connected to any networks"
*Eek How can that be? *Confused

Note, my original network connection was modified by the installation of Hyper-V, in ways I may not fully understand, but the internet works (using it now).

Whilst it would be nice for Windows to report that I have and am using one, it's more important to me that I get a network map.

    :)

  2. How to resolve WindowsUpdate_C1900101-20004 error?

    My problem is two fold

    A) The version of my LenovoT500 will not accept any installation of the Windows10

    B) I have tried countless "fixes" from all kinds of communities that were suppose to simply block Win10 from even downloading and or trying to install.

Every time I start my PC the initial Win10 files download and try to install - and every time I turn off my computer it tries to install the update.

  3. Windows 10 says I have no internet connection although I have got internet connection in non-windows-store apps.

    Hi,

    Sorry for the delay.

    You may follow the steps below and check if it helps;

    • Network Troubleshooter
    • Open a CMD window as Administrator:
      • netsh winsock reset
    • Then test to see if the issue is resolved.
    • Try a different network adapter/connection type if possible.
    • Check for Windows Updates
    • Check for drivers for the network adapter
    • Open a CMD window as Administrator:
      • dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
      • sfc /scannow
      • set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
      • start devmgmt.msc
    • This last command should open Device Manager in a way that will enable us to see previously-connected devices.
      • View, Show Hidden Devices
      • Check the Network adapters category for grayed-out network devices.
      • For any that relate to a physical network adapter, right-click and Uninstall.
      • Also look to see if you have any third-party VPN components in this list. If you do, try uninstalling that software from Programs and Features.
    • Restart at this point and test for resolution.
    • Try in a new user account (the likelihood of us needing to Go Back in this scenario is low, so the risk of losing this is low)
    • Check to be sure the Network Location Awareness service is running.
    • Check the System log for Error and Warning events related to Networking.
Let us know if you find more information on these issues.

The map went away with Windows 8. They found that no one was really using it.

If you have devices on the network, they should show in Devices and Printers if DLNA. If anything else, there are third party tools out there for network admin LAN mapping.

Also Hyper-V can screw up your network connections, so you have to be careful.

So, I cannot get a network map from Windows 10. It's a commonly used Windows feature, somewhat essential, but now deprecated in WIndows 10. Understood.

Upon further review and experimentation, it seems that Windows 10 only "sees" computers when they are part of the same A) Domain or B) Workgroup, but not necessarily Homegroup or none of the above.

    Follow up:

Found when having trouble with shares between Windows 7 and Windows 10 that adding the following key and value resolved not seeing shares:

    HKLM>System>CurrentControlSet>Services>NetBT>Parameters>
DWORD LmhostsTimeout set to (1000 decimal)
