    Win10, Super RAM hog! 11GB.

I've got two systems running things like premiere pro. The desktop memory usage under window 8.1 is normal, but the laptop when running say adobe encoder is crazy. I'm used to seeing Adobe taking 10 to 20 GB of ram, but my system is between 10 and 11GB! Now windows is telling me to shut stuff down lol! Adding more ram won't help as I've already have 32GB in the laptop. I know Premiere pro cc had some memory leak issue, but this is my Windows 10 system. Any ideas?

  2. System and Compressed Memory

No games, no videos. Just S&C hogging memory, CPU, and/or disk. At the moment it is hogging only RAM - 2G out of 12G, with 4G free. Other times it is furiously hitting the disk with RAM to spare. Etc.

Recover Win10 image to a smaller disk

By experimenting I have recovered a Win10 image to a smaller disk than it came from. But have I done enough?

The original disc that failed was 680GB with about 70GB of data and the new disk is a 240GB SSD.

I used Win10 recovery USB to clean install Win10 on the SSD in the original laptop.
Then in my desktop I used Windows10 Disk Management to create VHDs of the two image files (.vhdx) 11GB and 250GB from the backup.
I reduced the size of the larger one to a size that will fit but still bigger than the 70GB of data
I then used MiniTool Partition Wizard Free to copy the 11GB to the SSD 2nd partition and the other to the 3rd partition.
I put the SSD back in the laptop, booted and let Windows do a repair.

Seems to be OK now, but it may not be ideal.

  6. Try CleanMem Free - it is designed to deal with memory leaks, helped some people with 10 already.

Please do not use a program such as CleanMem, particularly on a system that has undiagnosed issues. That would only complicate the situation and make diagnosis more difficult.

I would consider CleanMem and other programs of it's ilk to be of questionable usefulness at best and harmful at worst.

What about the performance of the graphic card - is it overloaded?

It's a Quaddro 2100m, it's built for this stuff lol! Actually structure from motion software I use is a lot more demanding, but it handle's it great. It's just my system hogging the ram.
