Win10 update June 2018 killed computer - no WINDOWS folder- WARNING

Computer HP Probook 4535S, hard disk about 6 month old, then Win10 installed from W7.
Permitted Win10 update last week, "will take long time" warning read, accepted.

    Report:
    HP PB 4535S NoStart 20180607a

2018-06-06 Microsoft made a WIN10 update taking >2 hours. At the end appeared a message saying the computer can not start: ..../stopcode.
Various options were offered, none of the selected worked. The options can be seen when switching the computer ON.
Here is a list of the options, selective:
    1) go back to previous Win10version: Result: Fails.
    2) Go back to a previous restore point: Result: All restore points have been deleted by the update, none shows.
    3) To read instruction shown on WIN page, QRCode and link shown to .../stopcode: Result: QR fails, text link leads to a collection where the actual solution is / may be hidden in mass of information.
    4) Switch off and remove battery, replace and switch on: No effect.
I did not do any modification to the computer while this start-failure was active.
    _________

My computer specialist was able to access hard drive in command mode. There was no WINDOWS FOLDER listed. He is now busy collecting my documents and programs, then installing W10, the killer, I guess.

I am writing this message from my small Win10 computer, which MS is trying to kill too and I have a hard time to prevent MS Updates.
I hope this warning prevents many computers from being damaged for free by MS.

    :)

  2. June 2018 Windows Update killed my computer

    Hi SJD1000,

This usually happens when the update is interrupted for whatever reason. To resolve, try doing startup repair by following the steps below:

    • Power on your computer and power it off as soon as you see the Windows logo.
    • Do it three times.
    • After the third time, Windows 10 will boot into diagnostics mode. Click
      Advanced options
      when the recovery screen appears.
    • Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options >
      Startup Repair.

If the above steps did not resolve the issue, the MBR (Master Boot Record) may have been damaged and needs repairing. Here are the steps:

    • Follow steps 1 through 3 from above instructions.
    • Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options >
      Command Prompt
      .
    • When the Command Prompt window appears, enter the following lines and press
      Enter
      after each line:

    bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd

    bootrec.exe /fixmbr

    bootrec.exe /fixboot

Let us know how it goes.

  3. Battery runs low much quicker after Windows 10 update on 8 June 2018

Battery runs low much quicker after Windows 10 update on 8 June 2018

The battery power runs out much faster now. It goes from a full charge to minimum 20% level in about 1.5 hours. Before the update, battery would stay powering the laptop between 4 and 5 hours.

I started noticing the above problems after the Windows 10 Update on 8 June 2018.
