Windows 10: Win10 updating when I’ve turned off auto updates.

I have a shop computer with Windows 10. It runs a CNC machine. I have disabled auto updates. The computer is connected to WiFi to facilitate moving files created in the office. Half way through a 10 hour job, I noticed at the CNC machine had stopped. The monitor on the computer showed that it was updating. There was nothing I could do to stop it. When it was finished, I verified that auto update was off. It didn’t look like anything was updated but it did report that it checked for updates. This seems like a bug. If auto update is off why is it shutting down programs and running what appears to be an update. I would ditch windows altogether except the CNC controller only runs on Windows 10. Anything that I can do to prevent Windows from interrupting my CNC. It is a very costly problem.

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

Which Windows updates in 8.1 where the gateway to installing Win10? I've ALWAYS had update as a "check but let me decide" basis however I woke up to this.



With a bunch more (even AMD 7900 drivers, like wtf)

I'm trying to avoid the Win10 shitfest but good lord what has Microsoft done.
