    Win10 v1809 - cannot access extended file metadata


    In have recently changed computers from one running v1803 (originally a Win7 machine) to a shiny new one running v1809.


    Unfortunately this seems to have resulted in losing access to some of the file metadata within Windows. For example, for a PDF file, Properties used to bring up five tabs (I think), including one headed PDF Information, which included the title of the file (often quite different to the file name). Under v1809 this tab has disappeared.


    This matters to me because I had VBA processes run from Excel which accessed and used the Title of several thousand PDFs (their file names being read from an Excel file), taking about thirty seconds to run.


    I know that the Title field still exists, as a third party PDF handling program can display it. I can (sort of) get at this via Sendkeys but that is not suited (to put it mildly) to rapid batch processing.


    So, for now I am stymied.


    Question 1 - is this removal of access to useful file metadata deliberate? If so, why?

    Question 2 - is it associated with v1809 or did I only have access before because I had upgraded from Win 7?

    Question 3 - is it something that is going to be reinstated in future upgrades?


    and of course Question 4 - how on earth can I get round it?


    I have had a utility (File Association Manager) suggested elsewhere but so far I have not found anything that gives access to existing Title information as opposed to adding/editing what you yourself have provided. Either that or I am misunderstanding what the utility can do.


    I am more than a bit hacked off that I even have a problem to solve. Functionality, even obscure functionality should not disappear without good reason.

    Music Metadata grabber

    Been working on sorting movies/tv shows/music and looking for something thats free and grabs metadata for my music files. I could do it all manually, but having something that helps would be nice. Anyone got a suggestion?

    Yea I've used Metaviewer, Metadata Analyzer, some Java home mode shit, some Linux software...and I can't find the freaking original FS info......

    It sucks too because I know the files have been copied over and over... Version #'s of the Excel is different. And the Files all originated from the same author...

    I just got my HTPC setup and I just added images for all my movies and I'm working on TV shows. But I now want to add metadata, I tried Yammm, but it did nothing. I would almost liek to just add my own. I want to have synopsis's even for my TV shows which I think all the programs out there only fetch info off IMBD. Any suggestions?
