Windows 10: Win10 ver.1803 Broke My Microphone

After I did the update for the Win10 update, my microphone wouldn't work. I checked if it was a hardware based problem, but it's not after using multiple headphones that use the 3.5mm mic jack and even using a USB based microphone. So its clear that its a software based problem. I also tired updating the drivers.


Honestly how do the devs at microsoft manage to screw up my pc like this. WTF do they even do their.

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

 

Microphone not working properly after upgrade to 1803


After upgrade to 1803 my microphone is not working properly. I googeld and found many times this answer:

• Hit Windows key and search for "microphone privacy settings"
• Hit "Allow access to the microphone on this device"
• Switch "Allow apps to access your microphone" to ON

Among the apps that are showing is Edge. There the mike is working, but on chrome and my games microphone is not working

 

Windows Update Broke Microphone

Since you've recently updated to 1803, you should try this:

Hit Windows key + I, go into Privacy. On the left pane, click Microphone.

Be sure that Allow apps to access your microphone is on, and the apps in the list under Choose which apps can access your microphone are checked on.

You'll know it works if you're able to listen to the device. Let me know how this goes, and good luck.
