Windows 10: Win10 web installer internet access issue

Hi all, I've got a strange issue that I'm not getting information about online. I upgraded my Win8.1 to Win10 last week and found that on reinstalling certain apps to Win10 compatible versions that the web installer files didn't want to connect to the internet (I am online however).

I reinstalled with a clean Win10 install and still the issue persists. Found two web installer files that simply says it can not connect to the internet to continue. I've checked all settings, tried with Defender and the firewall inactive (to check if a restriction in either), tried upgrading my WIFI driver, but to no avail.

The laptop is on a domain and uses a proxy server. (all settings correct and double checked). No domain or network restrictions.

Anyone experienced the same or have some pointers?

Issues in going back to 8.1 after trying Windows 10

I installed Win10 but reverted to Win8.1 when I experienced ethernet adaptor issues with Win10 (could not get onto the Internet). Upon returning to 8.1, these two problems have arisen, and I cannot seem to fix them.

1. I still do not have web access (unless on WiFi). Something in the upgrade must have impacted my ethernet adaptor settings in some way, as it was all working beautifully prior to the Win10 install.

2. My Outlook is suddenly subject to very frequent "Internet Email" password request pop-ups. This was never a problem before. The pop-up password request appeared 50 times yesterday.

Thanks for any suggestions. This upgrade and subsequent return to 8.1 has certainly cost me in terms of productivity.

 

Issues since last update - 1/6/2018 - Internet Connectivity for Apps

I've had multiple issues since the last windows update was installed on 1/6/2018. My internet browsers (Chrome/Edge) have some access to the web but often hang up when doing anything other than basic web browsing. All my other apps that access the web
(Quicken, Amazon Drive, etc.) cannot connect to the internet. Tried reverting my computer to pre-update, but that didn't seem to fix the problem.

Only other twist I have is that Net Nanny is installed, but up until the update it wasn't causing any issues.

 

What do you mean web installer ? Windows 10 didn't have any web installer version.

 

No when installing downloaded applications. Most places these days only have web installers versus a full installation file download. I've got the issue on two applications (both Win10 compatible) - Zonealarm and the Logitech Setpoint application. neither wants to install and says there's no internet connectivity.
