Win10 Welcome now needs password ?

My master PC was upgraded to Win 10 Pro (bona fide) such that it would launch the Welcome screen at start-up, without a password, and without logging into a Microsoft account.

However, after trying to rectify the Xbox app, which involved my accessing my Microsoft account for another system (Dell laptop), Windows at start-up now seeks a password at the welcome stage, which I haven't got, nor do I want.

Windows now wants wants to verify my identity, by sending a security code.

I simply wish to start-up the PC and use it without passwords/security codes/logging in to Microsoft, etc., like I have done for the past 6 months or so. I currently cannot access Outlook 2016 to process mail (only via web-mail).

Any suggestions for a remedy would be much appreciated.

    :)

Win10 Welcome now needs password ?

    Sorry, this is still unresolved.

After several restarts, not requiring password access, as desired (and a successful password change), a reboot generated a new screen "Your account requires a Windows Hello pin". So, I created one, and it allowed Windows access.

I then disabled the Pin requirement in Windows settings.

Full shutdown/restart generated an opening screen with "We are unable to connect right now. Please check network and try again later" - I have never seen this message before. Entering my password is needed to gain Windows access.

The screen also displays two users with the same name (bottom left hand corner) - there is only user folder (plus admin).

Windows 10 seems to be confused regarding start-up passwords, when I don't want password access enabled (or a Pin).

Win10 Welcome now needs password ?

    Hi, there's this
Sign in User Account Automatically at Windows 10 Startup
    - but a glance seems to indicate you need to know the password to set it up so no login is needed.

Note that there are other circumstances in which you need a password- for example, setting up certain types of scheduled tasks, or booting to a command prompt.

    There is also this:
Reset Password of User Account in Windows 10

It is important to know the password even if you configure things so you are logged in automatically.

Feel free to search the tutorial section (above) or linear list:

Automatic entry of Welcome Screen Password?: When my Windows Ten Dell Inspiron 15 Laptop boots up, I need to enter a password to get to the Welcome Screen. Can I have that password entered by the system instead of me typing it in each time? If so, how do I do that. Thanks, Sam K. 37492
