    Win10 will not show the files I copied on it's hard drive from a Win Vista pc


    I copied files from a hard drive in my windows vista pc onto a hard drive that came on my windows 10 computer but windows 10 will does not show those files. What do I need to do?

    Hi Dale. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

    How did you copy the files exactly? USB drive, direct connection via motherboard, over network, etc?

    Can you still read the original files on the Vista PC? What transfer media do you have available? Large enough flash stick?

    Once you copy them onto the drive in the Vista PC, open the drive to confirm they all made it. Then plug the drive into the new PC, open it to again confirm, then copy them into their folders, check again.

    Copying files onto a win10 hard drive


    I'm trying to figure out what MS changed in Win10. *I typically hook a screwed 10 PC's hard drive to my computer and copy all their files before reinstalling windows. *Then after windows has been reinstalled I hook their hard drive to my pc and copy the files back. *Problem is there is no folder when I put it back in the customers machine. *I even created a folder in the root to copy files to. *When back in the original machine the folder is empty. *In my machine all the files show. * They are not hidden or marked system, they are not there.
