    Trying to update to an OS Build that will run Windows Subsystem for Linux

    Has the Anniversary Update (Win10 1607), the Creators Update (Win10 1703) or the Fall Creators Update (Win10 1709) ever been offered to the computer via Windows Update?

    Note: Support (and updates) for Windows 10 Version 1511 ended on 10 October 2017.

    IIWY, I'd get KB4015217 (Win10 1607 OS Build 14393.1066) installed before worrying about Win10 1703!

    WIN10] Windows 10 Creators Update

    It is the next upgrade in the Windows 10 Series. Original was build 10240. That was in July 2015, so if Microsoft gave it a version number it would have been 1507.

    In November, 2015, the "November update" came out. That took Windows 10 to the 10586 build series. The version number was 1511.

    In August 2016, the "Anniversary Update" came out, upgrading Windows 10 to the 14393 build series. The version number is 1607.

    Version numbers are year and month Microsoft releases them.

    The "Creators Update" is just what Microsoft has named the next major update which will change the major build number. Probably going to build 15XXX and the version number will be 1703 or 1704 depending on if they have the release build done in March or April of next year.

    It will show up in Windows Update as a "Feature Update".
